Slacking - HELP!

Slacking - HELP!

I dont' know what HAPPENED! I was completely on top of everything - my date is 11.9.02 - i have my place, photographer, florist, ceremony music, dj, cocktail party music, dress, bm dresses, guest list is done, wedding insurance is purchased. And that's about it. I know I have a lot done, but I haven't gone NEAR my wedding binder in weeks! I am totally bored with it! may 9th will be 6 months and I am TOTALLY slacking! Is this happening to anybody? Is there a next step I should be taking to get me going? I am afraid that this 'relaxed behavior' of mine is going to bite me in the butt pretty soon - thanks girls!

Relax. Don't freak... I'm getting married on 9-21-02 and I don't have half the things done that you do. It'll all come together, try not to stress out. You have plenty of time.

Start looking for invitations and thinking about your program design etc. Are you doing favors?

A visit to your reception site may get you going again. I remember bringing my MIL to see The Watermill about 5 mos before our wedding and I got the total wedding frenzy going again right after that.

not slacking - you are normal!

I agree you sound right on track. My wedding is about 6 months away and my planning is at about the same stage as yours. You may even have more done. Feb-Mar I was in a slump as well. I kept saying we have time or we will do that next month. I think those slumps are normal...it is a lot of work planning a wedding!

I went on vacation at the end of March and since then I have been in wedding mode again. I know not everyone can do that but just take time away from planning and eventually you will go right back to your planning.

Jenny ...

Pick up a wedding magazine - that always gets my juices flowing again! You do have plenty of time and I wouldn't worry! :-) It 's expected when you booked the big stuff and you have time to play around with the details. I slacked a little from Novemeber - December, thinking I had all the time in the world. Until New Year's Eve, when I realized that it was 2002 and I didn't have my invitations or bridesmaid dresses yet. THat turned into a big project and I've been on wedding mode ever since. I can't believe I have less than 10 weeks! WoW!
BTW ... Did you meet with Fr. Wilshere yet?

Jenny ...

You are just fine. There is definitely a slump in the planning at this point. One thing I did at about six months was just call all the vendors again to make sure we were on track and they definitely had out date down, etc. I've had some friends whose vendors made mistakes, double booked and they didn't even know it until the last minute.

Otherwise sit back and relax -- you have plenty of time and have already down the major stuff.

Well you could work on your ceremony details and then create your programs.

I am 11-02-02 and I, too, have been in a holding pattern because I did so much in the beginning. Have you thought about doing Save the Date cards.

You can also decide on invites and bridal party gifts.

Cira and thanks to all!

Thanks guys - I feel better already (I even opened my binder!) Cira, I meet with Fr. Wilshere on the 27th - really excited about getting that done. I've decided to follow up with my vendors, and pick one other thing to concentrate on. Maybe the cake....yum.....

Definitely let me know how it goes. I still have to email him but keep forgetting to bring his email address to work, and by the time I get home, I either forget or have to study or something. What diner are you guys going to?
Remember, if you need anything else, give me a holler! :-)

Don't be silly. You're not slacking at all. It's a lot of work, all this wedding planning stuff. You need to take a break once in awhile or you can lose your mind.

Take it easy and enjoy the rest of your engagement.

Me too Jenny!

I was doing so good and then, I just started slacking. Now I am starting to semi-panic. I am the week before you so I am almost at the 6 month mark also. I don't know what happened. I think I just got burned out.

Tara-

Me too Tara. It's the strangest feeling,. And I just read your recent post about the marathon. Don't worry about that. People will figure it out. That thing is never as bad as people think it's going to be. What are you working on this month? We are almost at the 6 month mark. We should try to keep up with each other!

Jenny-

Still need a florist, Hair and Makeup, I will be making my invites so I have to start that in 2 months, Need to find large floating candle bowls for centerpieces, need to order a ketubah, yamakas, flower girl dresses, plan honeymoon, get shoes, undergarments, headpiece, veil, have to register-

If my list doesn't make you feel better, than nothing will- LOL!!!

but seriously, I am in deep sh*t here now that I see it in black and white in front of me. I don't know what happened, I was a wedding planning machine 3 months ago and then- I don't know what happened. Any suggestions?
