My sister's 5 week old refuses to sleep in her bassinet or crib. She will ONLY sleep in her bouncer with the vibrate on. Anyone else have this problem? The bouncer is not very structured - should she worry about the baby's posture?

Re: Sleeping in Bouncer
As the mom of a 9 week old, my response is 'whatever works (and isn't dangerous of course).' I've heard of babies that need to sleep on an incline on doctor's recommendations -- often because of gas/reflux. I think they more often suggest a car sear in a crib, but bouncy chair is the same idea. As long as her head isn't flopped forward chin-to-chest I wouldn't worry.

My son also only slept in his bouncy seat for the first 8 weeks. He would flip out whenever we put him in his cradle.
When he was about 2 months old, we just decided to get him to sleep in his bouncy seat and then transfer him to the crib and it worked.

Re: Sleeping in Bouncer
My son slept in his Kick and Play bouncer with the vibration on for the first month, month and a half of his life. He refused to sleep anywhere but there. I slept on the couch and he was in his bouncer on the coffee table. Once in a blue moon I would put him in the bouncer in his pack and play up in the bedroom, but since it was upstairs, I didn't want to carry him up and down. I had no problems at all with him sleeping in it. It worked out great! I wouldn't worry about it at all!

Re: Sleeping in Bouncer
james was sick about 2 weeks ago...and to avoid the fluid from building up in his ears and causing an infection the doc suggested that I let him sleep in the bouncer for a few nights...so I think its fine James naps in his swing, bouncer and high chair all the time.

Re: Sleeping in Bouncer
My godson is 11 months old and still his favorite seat is the bouncer. His mom actually had to go get a bigger one that would hold him a few months ago. I say it is fine.

Thanks girls! I'm sure she'll let her mommy know when she doesn't like it anymore

Re: Sleeping in Bouncer
that is totally fine there is nothing wrong with sleeping in a bouncer. my daughter has slept in her bouncer her swing. She was fine and c omfy and there was nothing wrong with it. I even had asked the doctor if it was ok and the docotr said it was fine. My daughter is now 9 months today as a matter of fact and she is fine.
