Sleeping in crib
Lyla slept in her crib in her room for the past 3 nights! I'm so excited b/c we were cosleeping all this time. I have an Arm's reach cosleeper attached to our bed, but basically it was unused a lot, b/c I nursed her in bed and was too lazy and fell asleep before moving her back. She got so used to this that when I put her in, she would wake up as soon as I put her down. And, since she sleeps on her back or side, she often wakes herself (and me) up b/c of moving her limbs all over the place! I heard that this is why some moms still put their babies on their stomachs to sleep.
Anyway, DH and I were feeling unsafe about cosleeping (even though it felt very peaceful and nice to have Lyla nurse and fall asleep all nestled up next to me) but I knew the transition would mean sleepless nights for me, so I kept postponing when I would start tyring to get her in her crib. Well the first couple of nights, she slept 3 hours, took an hour to nurse and actually get back to sleep and then woke up again after 2 hours at about 4am, which is when I just took her back to bed with me b/c I was too tired to sit there and try to get her back to sleep again.
Last night was much better, she slept from 10:30pm to 3am (I started trying to get her to sleep at 9:30) and then from 3:30 to 6:30 am, and then came to bed with us until 8:30! It's much easier than I thought it would be.
I have to be honest, the most annoying question I have been getting is 'is she sleeping through the night?' No, she's not, but it doesn't really matter, as long as we all get sleep! She's only 12 weeks old and breast fed, I don't expect her to be sleeping through the night and I'm fine with it. Why do people ask this question so much?![]()
