I am a MOH in June (for my MOH in July) In her bridal party is me, her sister in law, her cousin and her fiances two sisters.
When we went for dresses the brides mother said the she didnt put something on her registry because she thought it was too much $$ but if we are looking to do a group gift this would be perfect. We thought it was great and we were going to get it.
Well, once I emailed all the girls the one sister emailed me back saying that she does not want to buy the group gift anymore, she wants to buy her something for her wedding night (lingerie???only??? Okay if that is what you want , fine)
the other sister did not get back to me... anyway, would it be rude to buy the group gift from the other 3 girls, her sister in law, me and her cousin??? Or should we just get individual gifts. The money is not the issue, I just dont want to offend anyone and do the wrong thing

Re: Slight Dilemma
Honestly, she made the conscious decision to do her own thing. If everyone else, including you wants to still go with the group gift - you're still a group and should go for it.

Re: Slight Dilemma
I would get the group gift from everyone else, just bc she is being cheap doesn't mean your friend should not get what she wants

Re: Slight Dilemma
Do the group gift, especially if money is not a problem. I swear, why do people have to be so difficult!

I would do the group gift and let her do her own thing. I am sure your friend will love it!!!!!

Re: Slight Dilemma
Do the group gift - especially if it is something that the bride would love! The other girls chose not to participate - you shouldn't have to change your plans because of them!

Go for the group gift. She'll feel like a fool at the shower.

Re: Slight Dilemma
thanks ladies, I emailed my friend's mom and I asked her opinion. I hope she agrees because I really want her to be happy and get what she wants.
Part of me thinks she is being 'frugal' but the other part thinks it might be cultural. I am not sure though

Re: Slight Dilemma
OH MY GOODNESS... Now the other sister emailed me to tell me that she too wants to buy her 'something intimate' for the honeymoon.
Whatever, I can't tell people what to buy but it is very frustrating to plan and have people agree and then back out and then have them have NO involvement at all

Re: Slight Dilemma
Well, apparently the mom told you this because she knows her daughter wants it. I think, if it's not too expensive for just a few in the bridal party to go in on whatever it is, you should still do it. Don't make the bride lose out because some girls are being difficult! I was a BM in my sis-in-law's wedding and had to fight because I knew they wanted a camcorder. They just wanted to give her some china sets. P.S. - we did the camcorder. Maybe you can suggest that everyone goes in on everything? Tell them, look... I know this is what she really wants. Maybe we can all go in on that big item AND the lingerie and make it all from the bridal party?
