Slightly dissapointed- UPDATE/VENT

so 3 of my BMs and i went to lilettes on Saturday to try on a BM dress and possibly get fitted if they had my gown at a good price.... and after my thread last week about lilettes and pricing i thought everything would go as planned...

my gown at lilettes was $200 more then any other store!

anyone try negotiating price for their wedding gown??
i didnt want to discuss price in front of my BMs so after they tried the dress on we just left haha.

UPDATE:
SOOOOOOO i just called, and the lady said they cant 'legally' sell the dress for the price i was given by 4-5 different stores! anyone ever hear of this???
umm hello! 4 places had if for 200 bucks less and another for 150 less. im NOT making this up. i physically went into the store and saw the price tag, and i called other places.
im a bit bummed because i heard good things about lilettes, and would have loved to order my gown from there.

UPDATE PART 2:
So lilettes called me back and said they will give it to me for the price i received from other stores, but said they never do that and so on.
While waiting for their call back, i placed a call to another store that i hadnt been in touch with yet to get prices there for both my dress and the BMs. They had to call the designer of my dress, because they dont carry it. She calle dme back and the price they gave me was $180 less then lilettes!!!!! ***! Now i dont know what to do. i really want to order my dress.

Re: Slightly dissapointed

You absolutely can. Tell them how much you were quoted at other stores, and I'm sure they'll do their best to discount or even match. I'm getting my gown at Lillette's for $300 less than it was at Bridal Reflections. AND their alterations are $200 cheaper.

I actually just started shopping and noticed that each store is trying to out sell the other. They're really competitive and will probably price match or go lower if you negotiate.

You can definitely negotiate. As long as you can go in with a competitors name and price, they will work with you. There are some places like Bridal Reflections that will probably not meet the absolute lowest price buuut they can't deny you a little break.

Definitely try and negotiate the price. They wouldn't want to loss a sale over $200.

And BTW... I was also at Lillette's on Saturday trying on wedding gowns... wonder if I saw you there.......

Re: Slightly dissapointed

Bridal Boutiques will always cost more $$ for wedding gowns and BM dresses. I went to a few before I found my dress at David's Bridal for less than $600. I am sure Lillette's has a great selection and most likely offers a better shopping experience than Davids (I had to wait 20 min to get service from an assistant at Davids), but for the price I paid, it was well worth the extra aggravation.

HTH!

Re: Slightly dissapointed

well I wound up having to share a room with another bride because it started to get busy but I was wearing a thin blue headband if that helps lol.

I think around the time that you were there, both dresses I tried on had a corset back.

I think the only good reviews about Lillette's come from this board. I walked in there and didn't see any dresses I liked nor prices that attracted me. In real life, all of my FH's female co-workers (who work as teachers) actually advised me to AVOID Lillette's based on bad experiences they had there. I come to this board and I hear the complete opposite so I guess everyone's experience varies..

I would say don't bother getting the dress at Lillette's if the price is cheaper elsewhere for the same dress!! You're a smart consumer!! Have you also checked out the Wedding Center in Commack, NY?

why not just order your dress and the girls dresses at the other stores???? I got my dress at a different place then where i tried it on cause it was much cheaper at tht palce

Absolutely negotiate....do not settle if you can get it for somewhere else for less!!

Re: Slightly dissapointed- UPDATE/VENT

Have you also taken into account the price of the alteration cap? Do you know what the other store caps for alterations? Honestly, it may be worth it to pay the extra $180 for the dress if the alterations are cheaper.

For example, maybe the dress is cheaper at the other store, but maybe they cap their alterations at $500. Lillette's caps theirs at $295. So in reality, even though the dress would be $180 more, you'd still be saving about $25.

Also, what's the customer service like at the other place? IMO, I'd rather pay a little more for exceptional customer service than pay less for mediocre service. JMO.
