How do I know what type of slip I need? I need to get it soon.
This is my dress.

I just worry that the bridal place is gonna charge me an arm and a leg for a slip when I can get it elsewhere for less money. I guess I could always still get it elsewhere but then I feel like my first fitting would be a waste because they won't be able to make changes without knowing what my slip will be like.

Re: Slip for under gown

You can try them on there and then buy it somewhere else. Just make sure if you try on a ball gown slip you buy a ball gown slip or if you try on an Aline then buy the a-line.....they dont vary in puffy that much as long as you get the same style.

Re: Slip for under gown

Plus you may get lucky and your dress will come in early and then you an go try it on with slips and then buy one before you start your fittings.

Re: Slip for under gown

i would wait until you try the dress on with a slip and talk to your bridal salon. i don't think my slip was that expensive when i ordered it.

Re: Slip for under gown

I agree with the prior posters. I just had my first fitting this weekend. The seamstress had me try on a slip, but the line where the crinoline started on the slip showed through the dress. Instead, she's going to sew an extra layer of crinoline into the dress, itself.

You could also check online to get an idea of pricing. That way, you'll know whether the price your bridal shop is charging is reasonable, or not.

Re: Slip for under gown

Thanks girls, I guess I will just wait until my dress comes in then. One less thing on my long list of things to get done in the next few weeks.

Re: Slip for under gown

I got one from Ebay for like $15 including shipping! It's just basic... and no one sees it anyway... so really why spend $60 on the thing?? It is poofier than I expected but if it is too much I'll just have them take some layers out.

Re: Slip for under gown

Your bridal salon usually has slips for you to try on with your gown. I got my slip from my salon.
