Slipcovers...anyone ever use them?

Slipcovers...anyone ever use them?

We inherited a couch, which we've placed in our empty den. It's in really great shape and it's a sofa bed, so it makes sense to keep it. However, the print is ugly.

Has anyone used those premade slipcovers? Any feedback?

Re: Slipcovers...anyone ever use them?

I have them on a couch and loveseat that I also inherited and is serving it's purpose until we can buy new furniture.

I was really scared to buy slipcovers because DH had them in his old apartment and they looked a mess. The never were in place and looke like a sheet was draped over them. But I guess we bought better ones or maybe it is the size of our couch because they are really doing better than expected. They hide the ugly couches and pretty much stay in place. I had a hard time getting them on and right (I almost returned them) but somehow DH took over and did a great job. The hardly ever need major fixing. It is a great temporary solution for me. I have Surefit.

I bought one from Surefit and it was pretty expensive.

What a waste of money!! It always looked like crap as soon as someone sat on it. Its sitting in my basement now after all that b/c i dont want to trash it b/c it was expensive.

Im sure there are better ones but I got totally screwed on it

Stef - Ebay!

Denise - where did you get yours? DH is flipping about cat hair and wants to put sheets over our furniture

I got mine at Macy's!! I was even able to use my registry discount (even though I didn't register for them) because I bought them withing three months of my wedding.

They are a lot of work not matter what. I had ones from Stern's and I was constantly pushing and pulling and shoving the sides. I agree with Stef, once someone sits down and gets up, its all over. I thought the Surefit ones would be great, wow!

Re: Slipcovers...anyone ever use them?

Thanks, ladies. But this print is just MUCH TOO UGLY to live with. Of course, when I said it was ugly DH said 'Oh, is it? I didn't know.' (???)

I ordered a catalog from Surefit, anyway. The room won't be used that much, so hopefully it won't be too much of an issue with fixing it.

I hope it's not too bad, because now I need to figure out what to do with all my white furniture now that the twins are cruising it! (I guess I thought I'd be single forever when I bought it!)

I think they sell things to put down the sides to hold them down and some kind of tacks as well. Not sure where. But I don't use them and mine stay put and my couch does get used.

Re: Slipcovers...anyone ever use them?

When I lived on my own in my apartment, I had a hand-me-down couch and I got a slip cover from I think it was target or LNT. It definately made the couch look a lot nicer but it was a pain because I was FOREVER tucking it in but it may just have been the type that I got. Im sure there are more types as well as other solutions out there.

this site looks like they have nice ones:
