Hi ladies! So, I am planning on having a slipper basket. I am on a tight budget and I found these cute canvas mary janes for a decent wholesale price on a website. The thing is, they either come in a case of assorted colors (yellow, pink, red, orange, and baby blue), a case of red, or a case of white. My wedding colors are purple, silver, and pink, so none of those options match. I would even take a case of black bc it matches with everything but they dont offer black. My friend gave me the idea of getting the white ones, and dying them with RIT dye in the washing machine. I would dye them either purple (to match with my colors) or black.
Is this a good idea??? Or this completely ridiculous?? Has anybody ever attempted this??

My colors are the same. (How are you doing the colors? What color are your BMs dresses?) Don't know if it would work - can you get one pair and try it?

I don't think I'd be brave enough to do this. If you can't find the color you are looking for and you are on a tight budget, i'm of the mindset that something like a slipper basket is sort of an expendable item -- I'd probably just scrap the idea (but that's only my personal opinion of course!)
I think i'd be too afraid that the dye would rub off on people's feet.
If you're set on a slipper basket -- why don't you buy one pair of similar slippers online and dye that one pair to see how it turns out before you get a bulk order?

My bridesmaids dresses are purple, the groomsmen are wearing silver ties with silver vests, and the bouquets and centerpieces are pink. For some reason Im not crazy about the guys vests matching the girls dresses. What about you??

Youre absolutely right! I think Im playing with fire here. I might just use flip flops instead of slippers, those are cheap and I can find them in bulk easily.

Really nice. I like the silver vest and tie look - I just saw it on a mannequin in a tux shop window that I happenede to be passing by and it looked great. My bridesmaids dresses are platinum, flowers are purples and pinks, tuxes - not ordered yet, but I'm thinking silver vest and I want to look for ties that are silver/pink or silver/purple - not sure yet. Also, thinking about having the bridesmaids do pink or purple shoes instead of silver, but not sure yet.
And I think the flip flops would be a lot easier than trying to dye the slippers
