What is the smallest wedding you've ever been to? How was it? Was there anything unique that couldn't be done with a larger group? Just wondering because we're having a really small wedding and I'm starting to worry it might be weird or something

Re: Small Weddings
i went to a quaker wedding in penn many years ago and i think we topped out at 50. It was just close family and I have to say i remember more of that wedding then anything. It was so family oriented and so special because they included us as witnesses where we had to inform the crowd in the meeting house of what is so special about that person and why they are worthy of marriage, etc.
the reception was at a restaurant and it was nice that we can all sit in a normal size room and talk.

Re: Small Weddings
We're going to be about 80 people, and a lot of those will be children. I think it's going to be great. We'll actually be able to talk to all our guests! This is exactly what we wanted. Well, there's a few people who can't make it that we're sorry, but otherwise this is what we wanted. We didn't want a big wedding full of people we don't know very well, or our parents' friends, etc. Everyone who is attending is close to us and really wants the best for us. It's going to be wonderful. Can't wait for it to get here!

Re: Small Weddings
Our wedding was small. I was worried a bit that it would seem weird and that the dance floor might be bare... but it was wonderful. I had only the people that I REALLY and TRULY wanted there. Well... with a few exceptions.
Here was the thank you we wrote for our programs:
**********************
Please take a moment while you are at our wedding to look around you. This is not a big wedding – attended by hundreds of acquaintances, colleagues and distant relatives. This is an intimate affair – with each guest hand chosen by us. You are here because you are special to us. You have touched our lives in big and small ways. You are valued and you are loved. The fact that you have taken time from your busy days and full lives to spend a few hours with us celebrating our marriage means everything.
We truly treasure each of you. And we are grateful and we are overwhelmed by the blessing of having you in our lives.
Thank you for your love. Thank you for your well wishes. Thank you for being here – from near and far – to share these moments with us.
Always,
Jeannie & Rob.

So many people have messaged us and called us to compliment us on the wedding - not because of the food or the liquor or the DJ - but because they felt special being there. I am really happy we decided not to have a huge wedding. I think it may be what some people want and it works for them - but for us... the small wedding really suited who we were - and I think that it was
Yours will be WONDERFUL and beautiful.

OMG thats so sweet! I might have to add something like that into our programs. Can I ask how many people you had? We're looking at under 40. Invited 60, but since we are getting married in Austria, only like 10 people from my side are able to come. But yea, I am also worried about the dance floor being empty hehe

Re: Small Weddings
depends on what you consider small. i had about 130 people and by our families standard sthat was small. they are used to 200+ attending weddings but i didnt want that. 1- because we were paying for it and 2-because i only wanted people that we REALLY loved to be there. not neighbors, doctors, co-workers (out of politeness), etc. Its YOUR wedding, you make it what you want and everything will be perfect! and if people complain, screw 'em!!!
