small weddings

im trying to help a friend of mine, she is looking for a reception hall for 2009 but she is only expecting around 50 people.
We are trying to figure out which month would be cheaper for a friday night either in april, august or october?
Also she is working with a small budget

I would try to find a restaurant with a private room. where are you looking to have it? NYC/Nassau/Suffolf/Queens?

Re: small weddings

Maybe douglaston Manor. they have various rooms. Or the Queens Botanical Gardens just opened a facility (uber modern if that's your style)to have receptions and the wedding can be in the garden.

I'm having my wedding at Leonard's of Great Neck. My minimum is 50 people. We are using the Empire room and having our ceremony there as well in the indoor chapel.

I think April would be chaper b/c the prime time for a lot of RHs goes from May-Oct.

Try Manor East in Massapequa.

Try Brentwood Country Club...
I love the place LOL!
But they have a phenomenal package.... Im not sure which month would be cheaper but I know that its always cheaper on a Friday night...
The package is for 100 but we only have 75 and since it was only 75 people, they took an extra 1500 off for us so I am sure they could do something even better for her!!!

Danfords in Pt Jeff, George Washington Manor in Roslyn, Harbor Club in Huntington, and possibly that new place right next to Harbor Club, which I think is called Prime.

Try The Irish Pub in Islip. It's a beautiful place. My sister is having a small wedding of 50 people there in November. I think it is costing here $35 per person PLUS an additional $15 pp for open bar. It includes a whole dinner menu with appetizer, salad, main course, cake and cookie trays on each table. The only thing is no cocktail hour. Not sure if thats how it is or if thats what she chose.
It really is nice though! I could post pics after the wedding!

Re: small weddings

Check out the Metropolitan Club (not the Metropolitan - their smaller venue run and operated by the same people). It would be the perfect size for a 50 person wedding.

I had my wedding at the Metropolitan and it was amazing. I can't say anything bad about the place at all!

I think Feb. would likely be cheapest at the Metropolitan - but we got married there in August and probably wound up getting the Feb. rate. (We bargained, though!)

Good luck!
