OK so i just tried on my wedding dress in the new smaller size i had to buy and i was so excited i just wanted to tell the world!
Word to the wise though wait to buy your dress if you think your gonna change sizes cause thats how i ended up with 2 dresses but it looks so good i would have bought a million dresses.... and because i'm sure someone out there wants to know I'll come out now and confess that I couldnt have doe it without the prescription my doctor gave me. I had tried for years to lose the weight and i never could no matter what diet or excersize plan so when he told me i had to lose weight to lower my cholesterol and gave me a diet pill i gave in despite all my reservations and I had a wonderful expreience with it- 50lbs lost in three months. Its not something i would suggest to anyone unless you had a doctor to monitor you(you can buy them online but i dont think its safe) and i truly salute thoes of you who do all on your own you are all amazing and inspiring. And now that i've rambled and im not sure made an sense ill leave you with the before and after pic that cause me to write all this in the first place :)
Congratulations!!! Out of curiosity, what pill did your doctor prescribe for you? I had a Rx for Xenacal for lowering cholesterol - is that the same one you used?

You look great!
Just a question...I see the drugs are habit forming? Are you addicted? I also see these were the only non FDA banned drug in Fen-Phen...didn't that scare you at all being it was linked to it?
Are you still on the pills? If you're off, what are you going to do now without them?
I don't mean to come across harsh...I'm just curious...and a little concerned.
Anyway...You really look great! I love your gown too!

Thank you for you compliment and your concern.
Phentermine is meant for short term use(my doc said 3 months only) but can become addictive if it is abused. I took the pills for 3 months and lost approx 50lbs after the three months my prescription was up and I stopped. I did not have any withdrawal or other problems with stopping the pills.
As for the association with fen-phen the reason phentermine is fda approved still is that it was not the part of thedrug that caused the problems. The danger with fen-phen was the 'fen' which caused heart valve problems in some people. Research is important when taking any perscription and I did mine along with my mother being a nurse and working with the doc who prescribed them for me. We looked at all the facts and decided together that it was a safe thing for me to take and in my case it was. Im sure depending on each persons own healh that may not be the case. Certain health problems and addictive personalities would not be good candidates.
As i wrote above i only took the pills for 3 months (feb-april 2005) and have not taken or felt and urge to return to them since. To maintain my weight i just try to eat balanced portions an walk as much as I can and I can say that just under a year later my weight has remain fairly consisten fluctuating 5-10lbs at any given time wich is normal for me personally but not climbing in a way that would put the weight back on.
Other doctors i saw that the time i was taking the pills had concern and wanted to run tests which i let them( ekg and bloodwork) and everything was normal. The only noticible difference in my med stats was that my heart rate was elevated which is normal and it was not elevated to a dangerous level.
I hope this information is helpful to you and anyone else who was interested. Overall if losng weight is something you need to do for your health and not just cosmetically and you were not able to accomplish it though the uual means then this may be something you could look into. But You should only use it with a doctors supervision and never order your pills from the websites onlineyou never know what your getting!

I think it sounds very interesting. I read a little bit online since I read your posts. I'm considering asking my Dr. about it. He'd monitor a patient carefully and that's really what is important. I really didn't see info about this drug being habit forming. Is that an issue?
Your dress looks great!

Re: Smaller Dress Big Smile :)
Chemically phentermine is an amphetamine of sorts it spead up your body metabolism and heartrate as well as being an appetite suppressent.
Think of the weight loss drugs of the 50's housewife(tiny waists energy to clean the house all day and vaccum in pearl) If abused they can be addictive but if taken as prescribed( i had 1 37.5 mg pill each day) for the reccomded period of time (no more than 3 months at a time) it can be safe nd effective with no withdrawl.
Granted everyones body is different and reacts differently to different meds so i cant say how it would effect each individual but i do know that i am very sensitive to most medications(my moms a nurse and says im like a little old lady in the way they effect me lol )and I had no problems.
If its something you are seriously considering you can talk to your doctor about it and he can help you decide if it would be good for you. If he/she is one of the many doctors who does not believe in prescribing this mediation there are others that could also work that are more widely accepted. I know that my doctor's other choice for me was going to be meredia which can be taken for a longer period of time up to a year i believe.
In the end you have to do what is best for your body all i can say is that I personally had a great experience with it.
