While price obviously varies greatly by RH and other decisions (band v. DJ, dress, extras, photo package), generally afternoon weddings are thought of as cheaper than their evening counterparts. (I realize an afternoon wedding at Oheka would cost way more than a Sat night wedding at .. anywhere but Oheka, but I'm talking generally)
Do you give smaller gifts to people having afternoon weddings? (ie: a friend was debating between getting married on Sat afternoon or Sat night, would her decision affect your gift, all other factors remaining the same?)
Just curious..

I dont base my gift on venue/time of day/day of the week, etc.

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
I give a gift based on how much I am spending on our wedding.
Does that make sense? So, the amount that I am paying per head for my RH is what I would give to someone else....
ETA: I would never base my gift off of the time of day of the wedding....

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
Im really not basing the gift on anything. I just want something unique and sentimental. Hopefully it isn't too expensive. You do have to take into account how many you will need and still buy a little extra in case more people show up. Go with something special though.

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
A bride in another thread mentioned that she usually gives $300 for saturday night weddings and $250 for afternoon weddings. I was wondering if that was a common approach.
I will probably base gifts on what is considered an 'appropriate amount' in general, and then adjust based on how close I am to the couple. (ie: give more for close friends/family members)

I do the same. Although, I have heard people say that they always try to cover their head and then give a gift on top of that. That might have been what the person said about the 250 vs 300.
In the end. . .I give what I can.

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
i acutally base the gift on how close, and how the couple is related to us.
My sister or someone from our office gets the most as well as a best friend.
Someone who we dont see as much, or a distant relative would get less

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
to be honest if it wasnt a close friend or family that was getting married than i might give less for an afternoon wedding - say if it was for like a co-worker or something. hey, im just being honest

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
I don't base what I give on where or when the wedding is. It depends on hopw close I am with the person and if I go solo or with someone.

Thats what I do also. I don't think i've ever heard of anyone doing that but everyone has their own feelings.

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
i would not give less for a day vs night that is like saying would you give less for a friday night vs a saturday night or sunday vs saturday.....
i do base my gifts generally on what a couple gave me if i have a list to refer to (its an italian thing)
i definitly cover perperson charge because i feel that is important
and if it is someone closer to me i obviously give more...
but it all goes by what you feel comfortable giving as a gift...

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
I don't personally give based on anything except how close I am to the couple. Most weddings I have been to I was in so I always gave extra- didn't matter if it was day or night, JMO These days I think 250 is the min people give/couple

Re: Smaller gifts for afternoon weddings?
I try to do what most of the other girls said. Cover the plate and then still give a gift. The close you are, the more generous the gift!
