Smaller Wedding at a two Wedding Reception Hall

Smaller Wedding at a two Wedding Reception Hall

From what I know, robbing banks is still illegal so I can't afford a big wedding. We picked a place where there is more than one wedding at a time (which was fine with us) but now we learned that our dinner hall will be doubled as the bigger parties cocktail hour.

Would you be upset by this?

The GM compared it to going out to dinner and eating on a table someone already ate on....I don't know about you but this is not some kind of just regular dinner, this is the most expensive dinner I will ever purchase in my whole life.

I kind of wish they told me this before taking all my money because then maybe I would've looked around and even if we did sign I would've had more time to accept this and move on.

I'm sorry you are disappointed. I don't blame you...I would be, too. I don't have any advice, but just wanted to say

I'm sure everything will be fine. They are professionals and do this type of thing all the time. Your room will be beautiful by the time your guests get to it.

I wouldn't worry about it. They do this for a living. They will have it cleaned up and set up so fast you wont even know.

Is the other wedding after yours? I wouldn't worry about it if it is. But if you are after theirs, I would make sure that everything will be cleaned properly before your party has to go in there. Usually places that do more than 1 wedding at a time are used to it, and have the transition down pretty well. But if you really have concerns make sure you voice them to your BM to be sure that everything goes smoothly!

If you are truly concerned, you can still look at other halls and see if there is one that is one wedding at a time that you like better and just lose your deposit

so wait; the larger wedding will have their cocktail hour in your room 1st and then move on to their reception; while you move into that same room you just left out of for your reception? And how far apart are the events?? I know they staggar the times...

But that does seem like a very fast turn around since the tables and centerpieces all need to be set for your reception. I know they work their magic under tough time constraints; but i would be a little leary that something might be left out. I would find out exactly how they expect to handle this. I just feel like it can take quite a while to set up a room for a reception; your DJ; your florist; any special touches (favors). I wouldn't be happy with them trying to rush to set everything up for me knowing that i'm paying the most i can for this event; even if it's still considered small to their standards...

Little Blue Pills do wonders ... Everything will work out though, I promise! Either Gina will kick some butt at the hall now or you will get your money back because they are NOT above the law!

I am completely not happy. The one thing I am the happiest with is my DOC (Gina from Bleu Diamond Events) - she is so amazing and has helped me out in so many ways with this. I'll probably post a vendor rave about her in a second.

They are only giving my people an hour to set everything up which is not a whole lot of time.

The only thing that really is getting me upset that everything better be changed - right down to the tables themselves.

wait, maybe i just don't understand. does this mean that the whole room will be open and everyone will be able to see each other from the two parties?
or will there be some kind of partition? b/c if there is, they are usually done very well and you don't notice the other party.
if your really upset about this, and you won't lose a ton of money, maybe look for another hall?

I would be upset too. Where are you getting married?

I would be upset to and they should have made this all clear to you before having you give a deposit, BUT I wouldn't be too worried.. they are used to switching rooms over fairly quickly. Most places will have 2 weddings going on at the same time sometimes. Im sure everything wll be perfect. If you are concerned I would call the GM again and tell him that no one told you about this prior and you are worried about the time frame and how the room will look.

yes... i would be pissed... i have no problem with more than one event at a time... but to have your room used on the same day is not cool...

I have to agree that I would be very upset about this... Is this all properly spelled out in your contract? You should review it and be sure that it's written in that they will have everything ready in time and to your liking or you get back money or something.. I'm sure everything will go off without a hitch, especially with a DOC to make sure of it, but maybe having something written in the contract will make you feel better about it

Re: Smaller Wedding at a two Wedding Reception Hall

Thanks for all of the advice girls!! I don't want to say which hall it is because it's only going to create more drama plus I know they lurk. Once I come to my decision (and if it's not to go with them) then I will let you all know.

edited because I'm nervrous as all hell they're reading this.
