I think it may be the humidity, but the smoke detector in my apt. has been driving me crazy lately--it goes off when I shower (it is in the hall), or dry my hair! It does not use batteries so that isn't it. I feel like ripping it off the ceiling! This ever happen to anyone before?
YES ! Ours is near the bathroom, so if we take a hot shower we have to leave the door closed when we're done so it dosnt go off. its sensitive to heat.

Re: Smoke detector driving me crazy...
Yeah I have one right outside my bathroom, Although we never showered in that bathroom I could never blow dry my hair in their without the window open. I used to set that thing off every morning in High School.

We also have hard wired smoke detectors and had a similiar problem when we first moved in, the basement alarm would set the rest off due to humidity. Then a week or so ago they would beep intermitantly (in the middle of the night!) and we couldn't find the cause, so I emailed the manufacturer, Kidde, and this was their response. HTH ********************************** Good afternoon,
There are a few reasons that the alarm would be chirping. One thing you can try is to clean the units with a hair dryer. Take the hair dryer and keep it on a low to medium cool setting and any of the openings you see on the front sides and top blow out with the hair dryer. Another reason that can cause the units to chirp is the age of the units, you should replace the smoke alarms every 10 years. And one of the last things is to check your wires you could have a loose neutral wire. If these do not help please feel free to call our toll free hotline and speak to any of the Agents that answer the phone at these numbers. I will get the user's guide right out to you in the mail.

Our house is equipped with your Model #1235 hard wired smoke alarms. I am trying to find instruction manuals, as the previous owners have not left them. Could not find this model on your site. Last night we had to disconnect all detectors, because they were intermittantly beeping every 15 minutes or so and we could not find the cause. Please advise. Thanks!
