Re: Snowboardgirl's Workout Journal

Cool! Great job - I have been working out, but never write what I do down.

In 06, I'm hoping we can have 1 thread going where we can all post together! This way we can scroll and check out what we are doing...

Maybe also get some good moves from each other, workout ideas, etc.
I have free weights at home I do with FH - never write anything down though - gotta get in the habit for doing that if we are going to post...

Oh I want to post mine too - why wait till New Years?

Yesterday:

50 minutes Precor (increasing incline every 3 minutes and then decreasing while going backwards)
10650 strides, 630 calories

I have to start adding in weights, but I think it will be easier once the holidays are over and I have a little more time.

PS - Just wondering - what are sumo dead lifts?

Tuesday Morning - 45 minute power walk

In 10 minutes - leaving for 60 minute kickboxing class

Oh I really like that - it looks like a really good exercise. I am going to have to incorporate that. How do you determine how many sets and how many reps to do? I am braindead when it comes to weight training (besides basic squats, leg lifts, etc).

Re: Snowboardgirl's Workout Journal

can you do the sumo lift with regular dumbells?

Re: Snowboardgirl's Workout Journal

I do mostly heavy weight and low rep for all my exercises.

4 sets of 6 reps, or somewhere in that range.

I guess you can use regular dumbells, as long as you can carry them. I would thisnk they would be to light, but everyone is different. I use 135 lbs, so I can't use dumbells!

Try them, use dumbells, but try to go as heavy as possible so that after 6-8 reps you can barely do more after the last set.

*Keep your back flat, or concave,
NEVER round your back.

We have my FH's dumbells - pretty heavy - just not sure if I can hold the weight separately in each hand (like 50 pound weights - may be tough!!!!)
