So a thought on my wedding day party non-reception situation.
So we're still struggling to find a place to party that day. I'm not really flexible about wanting to bring my own food in because if we have inside catering it starts to get expensive and I do NOT, NOT, NOT want to end up paying for TWO receptions. I want it low key.
So... my MOH suggested today that instead of doing something AFTER... we maybe do a 'wedding day brunch' Our ceremony is at 1 pm and the place we're aiming to rent out (but won't let us reserve it until September) is literally right across the street from our church.
People could show up for breakfasty foods (easy to eat foods so no one gets messy) and juice and mimosas. We can toast our guests and thank everyone for being there and essentially just be like 'Alright, let's get this show on the road!'
Do the ceremony.
Get married.
Hand out little favors as people go through a receiving line after the ceremony and just tell everyone 'We'll be at :insert hotel: at :insert time: to keep fraternizing and drinking for the rest of the night. Please feel free to join us. Otherwise, see you in Michigan in 6 weeks.'
Then we would have all afternoon to get whatever pictures we want. People who we need for pictures will stay. The rest can go home. We're not in a rush to get anywhere.
Is this workable?
