so... about my unexpected pregnant bm.....

I called the shop to see what they suggested, and they said with the way there is a criss-cross bodice on the front, that dress def won't work with her and she needs a different one.

she is not the MOH, they were all going to wear the same dress. They were supposed to order their dresses yesterday. I have no idea what to do. I am going to cry :(

Im sure that the dress will look fine on her.. I have seen pregnant girls in those types of dresses before.. is it really tight and form fitting?

They're absolutely sure they can't let out the front a bit?

My honest advice because this happen to me. My SIL became pregnant around the time we about to order dress. This something not to get yourself upset about I know that not what you want to here but their is nothing you can do at this point. I would hold off a little while to order her dress you never know she may decided that she is not up to being in the BP. If you does decided to that she wants to continue then let her get a dress same color but different cut that will flatter her body. My SIL decided right away that she was not going to be BM because she was worried about having dresses issue. Either way I was fine with it and if she decided to be in the BP then I would have helped get a dress that in my color but that she will happy in.

But until further in her pregrancy I think it would be to early now to order her dress because you don't know how big she will carry. JMO

Look at my wedding date my SIL was due 4/4

This is the dress... i guess the way the criss cross is they said they wouldn't be able to pull it down over her belly.

You might be able to see it better in this color

She'll be about 6 months at the wedding we think. She is a heavy girl, and she's actually lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks from being sick so we don't know if she is going to look much different at 6 months because sometimes heavier girls don't show till the very end.

2 girls already put in their order form, and they want to wear that dress. I have 3 others includeing the pregnant BM.

I am thinking what if I find something strapless by the same designer that she could wear? She's still going to be different though... ugh.

I know I'm being bridezilla... but this whole situation ***** with her 21and not even with the guy. I can't believe this is happening.

Maybe check w/ a different seamstress?? My dresses are similar to yours- levkoff 441 and has a criss cross. My BM had just had a baby when we fitted her for the dress. They didn't think it would be a huge deal if she didn't lose any weight before the wedding. They ended up ordering the dress 4 sizes bigger than her pre baby weight.

If it makes you feel any better. no one will notice that she has on a different dress if it's the same color and designer- they will mostly just notice she's pregnant and that's not a big deal. People always notice your maid of honor.

I'm so sorry you're disappointed!! It'll work out though, and fortunately you have plenty of time to plan for it and make it perfect!!

As far as everyone dressed the same... if that's a super-huge concern, then maybe you don't want someone pregnant in the BP at all. Even if she's wearing the same exact dress, she's going to stand out quite a bit with the belly. So that's a pretty clear option, and one she may completely understand. She could still do a reading at the ceremony if that's something you're going to do. She may also be really thankful that you're not asking her to have the stress of your wedding just before or just after she's had a baby.

I have two close friends who are due right before and right after (about a month on each side of) our wedding date and I was a little miffed that they either won't be able to come or will be attention grabbers (I'm being really honest here... I wouldn't usually admit that!!) but in the grand scheme of things, I realized this: Their babies are wonderful and I'm very happy for them, and their happiness will in no way change the love and attention from our friends and families on the day of our marriage.

You're upset now, I know, but she'll be ok with whatever you decide to do, and you'll be happy again with how it turns out!!

First of all, you still have time to order the dresses. They come in quickly (despite what the stores will tell you...they'd rather make the sale today than next month).

Since the dresses are not ordered yet, you still can change your mind, if you want, and put the MOH in a different dress, if you choose.

Otherwise, I don't see the big deal of putting the pregnant BM in a different dress so she can be comfortable. If you use the same fabric and color, it will still match. And it will be obvious that she's in a different dress b/c she's pregnant - not b/c she's the MOH. Anyway, all eyes will be on YOU!

Re: so... about my unexpected pregnant bm.....

I understand, it's not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things... and yes she will be standing out being preggers, I'm not worried about that..... please don't think I'm worried about taking attention off me or anything, believe me that is not a concern at all.

she is my FSIL and she still wants to be in the wedding. It was unplanned and she is considering adoption bc she is only 21 and not finished with school or even dating the guy. I am just frustrated bc we picked them out 4 months ago and they were supposed to order them yesterday. It could go either way whether she will be obviously pregnant or not at that point, so I feel like people are going to be wondering why she's in a diff dress. If she were the MOH this would make things much simpler.

I'm looking at similar styles by Bill Levkoff right now, unfortunately there's only 3 I found in that fabric with an empire waist that look somewhat similar. I guess she can't be picky!!

Oh, and I'm also concerned about the strapless neckline in general. I could deal with a similar dress but I don't want her in a COMPLETELY different dress liek a halter. She has gigantic boobs as it is and they will only get bigger, so I'm worried about it being strapless.

Re: so... about my unexpected pregnant bm.....

Are your other BMs also larger women?

A lot of times when one BM is bigger and the rest are a bit smaller, the larger woman does have a completely different dress, and halters are common. I know you want everything to look uniform, but as long as the color is the same, it will. To have a plus-size BM in a plus-friendly dress is nice for the gal herself, and I'm sure everyone will appreciate that.

Sounds like you have it under control and are starting to develop lots of options and plans.

As a side note, my FSIL had a baby at 20 (she got pregnant a week after she got engaged and married 3 months after that) and she has a second now (she's 24). It wasn't easy, but she's back in school now, her husband in Afghanistan, and she's (understandably) crazy about her children. It's weird that I'm 6 years older than her and first starting the whole marriage thing at 30, but that's just how it goes. Sounds like an exciting time for everyone! I hope it all goes well for you and her and the family!
