i think you're overreacting.

she didn't say anything negative about your dress, just that it is cheaper than hers.

my dress is 'cheap'--i prefer inexpensive

I think its rude. There was no need to call your dress cheap. I would be upset if my moh called my dress cheap.

It sounds to me like she feels the absolute need to tell you how much she spent, and she just chose the wrong words to say it. After all, you were simply commenting on how much things cost you, and she jumped in with her dress costing 2x the amount of your final payment. I paid very very little for my dress. I could have paid more, but this dress was perfect for me, and that is the only thing that matters when it comes to a wedding dress - not the price tag!!

I think she used a poor choice of words, and really meant 'inexpensive'. I wouldn't worry about it!

I would also think she meant 'inexpensive' or 'less expensive'. I mean my dress is cheap in comparison to the dress I originally wanted but compared to others it is off the charts and I wouldn't consider it cheap at all.

I use the word cheap when referring to stocks..less expensive would have been the right words.
