MonkeyBride posted that Villa/PJCC won't allow votive placecards. What the F***! I am calling there tomorrow to talk to them- I do not want to assume that PJCC and Villa have ALL of the same rules, but if they do I am going to be so pissed. I will have a coordinator the day of who will oversee this.
If I get the big fat NO, do you think that everyone could pick them up unlit, and then once everyone is seated they can go around to light them?
OR
Should I have them lit at the tables already and do a seating chart, so when everyone walks in the candles will already have the room lit up? I don't see what the problem would be with this since nobody would be carrying lit candles.
What do you all think?

Well, unfortunately, I can see the hazard with all those people carrying lit candles. I think it would be better for them to carry them unlit then light them.

It might look really pretty to have them already on the table. So many places allow you to have the votives that I am surprised that this is not allowed. I would talk to them tomorrow to make sure you really can't have them. That's disappointing especially if you planned on having that.

I also think it would look really nice if they are already set up on the tables....

Re: SO ANGRY!!! Need Opinions. . .UPFATE
I spoke to my Banquet Manager and they are not allowed to carry anything lit in due to problems with people dropping them in the past. He said that they would consider allowing them to be lit once they were on the tables, but I have to bring in a sample and it would have to be approved by the manager.
Otherwise, I can do the following:
I ordered mini glow sticks in white light (you know the ones that yu can put in your mouth at clubs . . .) from ebay just in case I get the big fat no from Villa . . .
Do you think white light is okay, or should I have done orange or yellow - which color would mimick candlelight the best??
This is a last resort . . .

that's a great idea! I would use white glow sticks.....and you can wrap them around the votive candle....so the guests still get a candle to keep with their votive holder...
