I have been looking for an apartment for FH and I and I am getting frustrated. I have looked on craigslist.com, newsday (paper and internet). Nothing is within our price range or if I do find something I keep calling these places and no one calls me back. We are looking for a studio or 1 bedroom in nassau/western suffolk. I am starting to re-think the FH's friend as roommate thing, only because we can look for a 2 bedroom, which there seems to be more of. The more frustrated I get, the more I start thinking I should quit school and work full time and then I get upset. Even if it's just to offer hugs and prayers, I would really appreciate it. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it too. What if we can not find anything? Should I just give in and start looking for a 2 bedroom for me, FH, and FH's friend? I am so confused!

What is your price range? Have you checked the Yankee Trader and the Pennysaver?

For a studio...really like $700. I know that's a toughy, but FH is a NYPD recruit. He gets a raise when he graduates, but his class got the pay cut, so putting money aside right now is really tough. I am a grad student and work part time, but that really just covers bills, not much more.

I think you should definitely consider the friend/roommate situation. This way, your money goes a little further. I know it can be tough, good luck!

I think your best bet is to try a local paper like the town crier or penny saver. The apartments listed there are usually a little cheaper. Have you tired meeting with a real estate agent? Also check the grocery stores, sometimes they have bulletin boards where people hang signs. Good Luck. It will all work out.
