So, anyone want to settle a NWR debate between FH and I?
Okay, so I leave for work about two hours before FH. To be nice, I make his coffee for him (I don't drink coffee) so all he has to do is turn it on. WELL, I was running really late on Friday and I didn't get to make the coffee, I had a cup of juice, put the cup in front of the coffee pot, and rushed off to work. Well, FH called me to tell me:
he broke the coffee pot
and IT's ALL MY FAULT!!
Heres why (this is his warped logic)
He turned on themachine and hopped in the shower. To his dismay, there was no coffee when he finished getting ready. When he finally figured out that I must not have made the coffee, and he decided to do it himself, He clumsily pushed the juice glass (that I had left there) into the coffee pot, and it broke!!
He thinks I should replace it, because if I didn't leave the cup there, or if I would have just made the coffee, then we would still have a pot.
I think heshould replace it, because it was SO his fault the pot broke, AND I don't even drink coffee!!
So, who should replace the pot?

Honestly, I would have left a note. I always leave DH notes. But whats done is done and since you two are living together, it really does not matter who purchases it because you share in living expenses.

For the sake of argument and elevated drama, just go half on the pot. You'll be glad that you did.....Men never think they're wrong and his logic will always make sense

I'd say go half, it's a compromise and this really isn't something that should cause a major issue between the 2 of you.
I don't drink coffee either but I make it for FH like you do, since I leave for work before him. I know he really appreciates it and that's why I do it, so I'm trying to place us in your scenario.
I think I'd want him to replace it (as I can see you're feeling) but I'd also feel partially responsible and guilty for not making it. So we would prob agree to go half.

OR you could direct him to the closest Starbucks...
though my FAVE coffee is from McDonalds, followed by 7-11 then Dunkin Donuts

yeah, it's not a big issue. We're kinda arguing about it in a jokeing way...
AND YES, I felt GUILTY for not making it.... I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

Men have brain damage. They are born with it and this proves it.
Tell him to get his own coffee at 7-11. Don't replace it.
You are nice enough to make his coffee in the morning...it is not your job and sole purpose in life. he needs to get over it and if he wants coffee then he can replace it. No skin off your back!

I would have left a note, but I can see how it would be he's fault. Even so, I'd still go in on half, or have him buy it.

OK.... something is wrong here. He breaks the pot and most people think YOU should split half.
He broke it, he can replace it. That was not because you did something wrong. It's is own clumsiness.
Sorry, there are going to be some days where you won't be able to do something for him. Wait until you have kids.
I understand he has become a creature of habit but you cannot be blamed for it.

though my FAVE coffee is from McDonalds,
Is it really that good? I never get it there b/c I have before and it was always yucky!
As far as the pot goes, my suggestion would be to get a stainless steel pot, like those thermos types. There is less of a chance it would break.

I agree! you don't drink the coffee so let him buy the pot. and let him make it himself for now on, see that's what happens when you try to be nice

I would just go in half. FH has broken two of our coffee carafes while washing them and we just buy a new one together.

he broke it, not you. but as someone else said, it doesn't really matter who pays for it, its all coming out of the same account.
and ps - 7-11 is better the mcdonalds coffee, with the exception of the french vanilla cappachino at mcd's

I love McDonalds coffee too! I drink it black. I can't drink Starbucks because I drink my coffee black and theirs tastes awful black.

FYI: Apparently McDonald's is now serving a new 'gourmet' coffee that gives Starbucks coffee a run for its money, according to an unofficial taste test on the CNN morning show.
Anyone tried it yet?

Thats a tough one. I loove coffee, FH hates it, but always makes sure he has coffee and my vanilla creamer for when i come over. In return, i always have chocolate milk for him
Sorry, I am torn, if it was me personally, I think i would just buy a new one.........
