Ok girls, this may be kind of long so first some background: For those of you who don't know I live in Maryland with my FH. We are getting married on LI. I got my gown down here in MD so I wouldn't have to go back and forth for fittings. Well my gown is in! And has been for about a week and a half. In this particular boutique the seamstress is only in one Saturday a month. So it makes it really hard to schedule fittings, since I want my Mom and or sister to be there with me for at least the very first fitting ya know?
Ok so the last I was in there, the seamstress had not picked a weekend in October yet, so the manager said you can pick and then that will be the weekend she comes in. So I say great, let me talk to my Mom and I will let you know next week. Now I knew there was a small window of opportunity to do this. My Mom finally picked a weekend and I call this morning to set it up and of course someone has picked a different weekend already!!!!!!!!!!!! AND it happens to be the only weekend that I can't have guests down because FH and I are singing at one of our best friends wedding here in MD. So what do I do?
Do I have my Mom come down the weekend she was going to come down and just see me try the gown on and decide what kind of bustle we want? OR should I try to schedule the first fitting for the weekend that I really can't host guests and my Mom can just rest and go to a movie while FH and I are at the wedding?? Thoughts??? HELP! I don't know what to do and it doesn't help that I feel awful today and am really emotional. Please make a suggestion if you can! Thanks!

wow, that seamstress sounds really unaccomadating. Cant you find another one that is more avialable to you? Either try to do it in early Nov so your mom can come or maybe you can go to the fitting yourself and by the second fitting your dress will fit you better and your mom can really help by pointing out what she thinks needs to be fixed more (i.e. like the chest area or the bustle)

It's your mom and I am sure she will understand that you have a prior commitment and really want her to be with you at your first fitting. I'm sure she wouldn't expect you to entertain her the whole weekend. Just a suggestion can your dad come with her then the two of them can have dinner out together and take tour of your city or see a movie, etc.? I hope you can work it out because I know it is really important to have your mom at your fitting with you. Liz
i think that as long as mom and sis can see you in the dress at any time..being there for an actual 'fitting' is no big deal. if the store will allow you to try it on for them anytime then all will be fine. having the seamstress there and calling it a 'fitting' means nothing...does it? My mom has seen me in my dress and I have yet to do a first fitting...
