So confused about my dress! Online retailer or not?

So confused about my dress! Online retailer or not?

Now that I've chosen my dress--Casablanca 1843-- I'm having a hard time trying to decide where to order it. Has anyone used www.curvybride.com? They're the only Internet retailer I've seen that promises to send you a copy of the order with the manufacturer within four days of your order. I wrote to Casablanca and they emailed me back and said that they highly recommend buying from a brick-and-mortar store in my community, that 'We have had brides contact our office in horrible situations because they purchased their gown from an online retailer. ' Yikes. 'Horrific situations.' Since my wedding is only six months away, I don't have time for issues. However, the prices! And I can understand why they are so much cheaper, it costs a lot of money to maintain a store, a staff, etc., so they have to build that into the cost of the dress, something they don't have to do with their e-commerce ventures. We're talking over $200 in savings, not including no tax. Someone on here recommended an internet retailer in MA that had great prices, then there's Netbride and some others. It would still be cheaper for me to order the dress as a rush from curvybride than to buy it locally. And, there's always RK Bridal's mail order price matching. I'd have to pay tax, but if they give me 5% less, that almost covers the tax. Help! So--has anyone here used curvybride? Anyone use RK Bridal's mail order? Is it worth buying it in RK Bridal's store so I can get the alterations done there?

And this isn't even getting into the ivory vs. white issue. I tried on the dress in ivory, and it was lovely, a stranger even came up to me and told me it looked great on me. But I love the Kenneth Pool dresses in white, and this basically is a knockoff of a Kennth Pool dress...

You should email/call Phyllis at gownfind she can get dresses for much less then traditional brick and morter stores... and she's great at alteratoins.......
she's located in dix hills...
stores name is bridal elegance just do a quick search lots of info will come up on her...

that way you have the best of both worlds.. a dicounted dress and someone to measure you and do stuff in a 'store'....

good luck

She's been suggested to me before--but, I'm thinking that if I'm going to go with a brick-and-mortar store, I should go with an authorized Casablanca retailer. And she's not listed as one on the Casablanca site. If not, why not go with the super-cheap Internet prices? Because for all know she might also get my gown from a third-party seller, might even get the gown from one of the Internet retailers! Phyllis, if you read this post, please don't take this as an insult, just, if I'm going to be careful, I think I should probably go all the way in being careful, right?

Has anyone used P.Scilla? They carry a lot of Casablanca dresses, I've heard. I was going to drop by there yesterday, but I ended up having to take my poor sick fiance to the doctor. (Which was a good thing, he's got a nasty case of bronchitis that got worse overnight--if he didn't already have antibiotics, I would be in the ER with him right now.)

I probably should just go with one of the local stores or else RK Bridal, which I can get to easily as I work in Manhattan and go through Penn Station. I could do a lot with $200, such as get airbrush makeup on the day, but it's probably not worth the worry. Thanks guys! I seem to be using this board more for working out things in my own mind than waiting for your answers.

Hi there..I don't know where you live, but I took an internet quote into my bridal place and they gave me a great price, and mine includes alterations..something to consider, if you are interested...FM me for details..I've heard mixed reviews about doing it online, but you really have more of a leg to stand on when dealing with real people..I also know people who have done RK, but my place is comparable, and I liked alterations being included in a great price...good luck!
