so did some wedding stuff yesterday (slight rant and raves)
so FH and I had an appointment with our jeweler to check out how our rings are coming out as they are being made.
So we get there and are shown the rings, we love them. FH is thrilled, until we're told they are over the budget we gave.
Well that caused an uproar. it takes a lot to get FH mad.. and FH was LIVID! this is the first time I let him take control and vent it out, usually he's holding me back because I'm about to start swinging, but I threw some good pointers in, like the fact that this is the SECOND time in THREE visits that we've been disappointed, the first time being the issue with the check (anyone remember that??) and that it took a lot out of us not to just walk away. Well he didn't want to budge, he told us to discuss our options and contact him in a week. Our options are to basically lower the quality of the diamonds, make FH's ring smaller and take out a lot of elements that are important to him.... so we leave. FH is FURIOUS!
We drive all the way out to new hyde park for our 4:00 appointment with Joe from camelot (it was about 1:50) we call and ask if they have anything earlier.. we're told to come right in. We felt really comfortable with him, and he really tried to work with us. We told him the price of another vehicle we were looking at and he matched the price- MAJOR PLUS!
now we're just comparing party bus's... that decision is to come at a later date, I just wanted to share that even if we don't go with camelot... Joe really did brighten our day just a little... he's very down to earth, has no problem that I was dropping the 'f' bomb NON-STOP, he even dropped it with me![]()

he made us feel really comfortable, but right now its based on vehicle.
So while chatting it up with joe, our jewelers wife called (i'm assuming most of you already know who i'm talking about... but a little background on our last issue: they deposited a check 2 days early and I got hit with a bunch of charges.. now HE wanted to credit us back, SHE didnt... and HE won in our favor, well now the roles are reversed...) she leaves a message on FH's voicemail saying 'this is .... I overheard your conversation with my husband, I would like to make this up to you, please call me before 5:00). By the time we get out of joe's is closer to 2:45.
FH and I decide to drive upto the hempstead house to look around and maybe talk to someone about doing pictures there. the whole drive FH is still venting about the jeweler. So we finally arrive at sandspoint and pull to the gate, its $5.00 to park, but we ask if there's anyone to talk to, the girl informs us that no one is there and that the HH is closed, but the grounds are open and it would be a waste of $5.00 not to see it, so she let us drive in, do a drive by and leave- that was really nice of her.
so now FH tells me to call HER, I'm building myself up for this epic battle but what happens???
'I over heard your conversation and I remember the check incident and I feel horrible that we've upset you so much, I'll make your rings for the budget you gave us, EXACTLY as you wanted'
so what could we say? we had to say thank you... although we're both still weary. and FH is still upset about the whole thing.
