Yesterday I was making a rough draft of the place cards I want to make. It printed out perfectly, but when I went to cut them it was a total disaster. Now I dont know what to do. Even with a ruler guiding the razor it still went off course. Now I dont know what Im going to do!!!

Can you get your hands on a paper cutter? Maybe at a photo-copy store - like kinko's?!?!

I plan on investing in a paper cutter. You can even go to staples and have them cut them for you.

Re: So disappointed with myself
The last project I did were my engagement announcements and I used the paper cutter at work, and even that didnt shear off the paper perfectly. So I went out and got the paper cutter that looks like a pizza cutter. But when you run it beside the ruler, I just cant get it to stay against the ruler. Im just soooooo frustrated!!!

Hi there. If you do all of your cutting on the same surface (like a half inch piece of mdf because it has a smooth surface) you can first layout the lines on that board. from your printout. After all of the lines are there you should be able to use a steel ruler or straight edge (not wood) and just line it up with the marks on the mdf and cut away! That board(the mdf) will act as your template making each cut the same. I used to use the same method in printmaking class!! I hope it works out!!!

fiskars also has a paper trimmer for about 12 dollars...you can really only cut about 3 pieces at a time, but it is great.

Get the Fiscars personal cutter. There are 2 models, a 9' and 12' one. If you NEVER plan on scrapbooking, get the smaller one. It should come with 2 blades, the orange cutting blade and the black scoring blade. Practice Practice Practice.
ETA: You can get the trimmer at Michaels, Joanne Craft or AC Moore. If you go to Michaels or AC Moore, tell them you forgot your coupon at home, sometimes they have 40-50% off coupons. Michaels has them on sale for 25% off this week. I think office stores might have them too.

Re: So disappointed with myself
Put crop marks into your document, and lign the ruler up with them. Invest in an exacto knife (much better than a razor) - and like someone said before, make sure you do it on a surface for cutting. Good luck!
