I made an appointment at Sweet Sweet Sue's in Staten Island to design DH's groom's cake! They are super busy and cant meet with me until next Wednesday night though. I am so excited but at the same time I am such a bad secret keeper! I hope I can hold out until August.

Do you have a bakery that you are using? I just did hours of research and found this place. I love their work but they charge at least $500 for a cake. I think that is a lot but I know my DH will really appreciate it and he deserves a nice suprise. He is a great husband. Also, I am super picky and I would rather spend a little more to have it be perfect than save $100 or even $200 and not love it. I dont know. I'm going to meet with them and probably wind up booking them.

Yes, please! Definitely let me know. I might also meet with Cakes by Jackie but I'm not sure. They are the same price and I think this bakery does better work.

I may do it but i am not 100% sure... I think i may do it for the Wedding n surprise him...
I think he would like ALL of our wedding guest to see his Soccer cake lol... since RD it will be only like 20% of the guest...

I have my wedding cake appointment tonight at sweet peace. Since FH is standing me up I'll ask about the grooms cake. I'll share the info I get tomorrow!

I thought about doing a smaller one for our wedding in April but we planned it within a matter of weeks and I was bogged down with other details. I would definitely like to do something special for him as a surprise now. He watches those cake shows with our daughter (Cake Boss) and I think they would both get a kick out of it.
I actually looked on the Cake Boss website but they make you pay $100 to have a consultation with them and then if you decide not to use them for the cake they dont return your deposit in cash...instead they give you a gift card for their bakery. So, I decided not to even meet with them.

Okay so I met with sweet peace today and allison is awesome! Her sculpted grooms cakes start at $250 so maybe you can give her a call for a quote! She is located in Lynbrook and is so great! She showed me pics of her work and it is impecable! Given that she is the house baker for Bridgeview Yacht Club you have to expect she is excellent!
