My best friend who lives in PA just called me and said that the house next door to him just went up for sale! FH and I were planning on moving to PA after the wedding, and have been saving for it. My friend called me from work, so he couldn't give me all the details, but the sign just went up this morning in front of the house. I am so excited because it would be awesome to live next to my best friend and his family. The only thing is that I don't know if FH and I would want to move anytime this soon. We weren't planning on it for about a year or two. I don't know if we can just pick up and leave. I mean I haven't gotten all the details on the house (bedrooms, bathrooms, price, etc.) but I just feel like I am already going back and forth with this in my head all morning. You ladies always have the best advice, so I just figured I would run it by you....Thanks

good luck. We house hunted for 6 months, and found that with the wedding we just couldn't swing both. It won't hurt you to find out more info and take a look at the house, hey!, you never know!

I would consider at look at it get a sense of the house and how much it is and what work needs to be done.
I wouldnt jump on it because even though its nice to live next door to friends those friends might not be friends in the future as harsh as that sounds and it would be scary living next to someone who really knows you and might dislike you. I would deff. live a few blocks away though. This is me - i look at every negative side of a situation and formulate if its that much of an issue.

I thank you for the way you think...that's what I need in this situation. My only thing with that is that we have been great friends for over 16 years now. we have never had one fight. He met FH and they hit it off right away...I met his wife, and love her to death. Her parents live right on the other side of them, and they are like another set of parents to me. The ONLY reason we aren't jumping on this is because of timing and money....I just don't know if we shoudl get our hopes up...

I can totally understand how you're feeling - but you don't want to do an impulse buy on a hundred-thousand-dollar-plus item...
What part of PA? I know Lehigh Valley is up and coming, so I think buying property in that area of PA is a good move. I'm basing this on gut feeling and reading real estate....
(I want to move to PA too!!!)

It's in Colver....very very west. A really small toen about 30-40 mins outside Johnstown. And that's the thing...its a 3 bed 1 1/2 bath home w/garage for less than like $80,000 (not sure exactly but thats what my friends house was)
