Ok so My hall said to call back after the new year and we will discuss the rehearsal issue. Quick summary THe hall expects me to have rehersal for the ceremony the day of my wedding. Keep in mind i am getting married at 12 noon. so long story short we called them back this week and finally spoke with our BM and he said that it isnt his rules thats the policy of how the hall does it. Not for nothing i cant participate in this now. Sure my brides maids can if they truly want but who will be with me then. i dont know what to do. Was thinking of just picking a place for dinner and doing a run through there, but the bridal party doesnt see the point because it isnt the exact place. sorry so long, im just getting really discouraged now.. seems as if nothing is working out.

Re: So frustrated!! whats the point of RD now
We're also getting married at the hall ....
Honestly, it hadn't even occurred to me to try to do a rehearsal there.
We are doing a RD the night before the wedding, but its not the traditional kind at all. We'll probably have 60 people there! It should be a fun night, we'll get to spend more time with our OOT guests

dont' freak out too much about it. honestly...the rehearsal IMHO isn't something that is totally necessary. i mean....just go over it with them beforehand and say 'you walk with this person' and etc. honestly, the maitre d' will know what to do on the day of.
we are not having a big fancy rehearsal beforehand...i think walking in a BP is pretty self-explanatory. ya know? i trust that it will be okay. i'm simply telling them when they are to walk on what music cues, and the rest is natural!
don't let this stress you out, you have enough to deal with!

I had the same issue so we didnt even rehearse but I did have a dinner to thank everyone.
If you want to you can rehearse somewhere else.

I was in my friends wedding last year and since the ceremony/reception was out east, they did a rehearsal at the restaurant the dinner the rd was at. You don't get the exact thing but I think it worked out well.

Re: So frustrated!! whats the point of RD now
i doubt ill be able to do a real rehersal either. my wedding is at the hall and is also at 12noon on a sunday. i already know the bride that is getting married there on saturday night so theres no chance to reherse that night. to be honest i dont really care. FH was in a wedding recently where there was a rehersal dinner but no actual rehersal. it was fine. people should understand. and you really dont NEED the dinner at all either, its just a gesture.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how you feel because Floral Terrace was giving me a hard time with the rehearsal issue. I made SUCH a stink about it, they let me do it. BUT the reason they went for it is because they are not having any parties there that saturday afternoon, so I am able to be there. But I really had to bitc* about it because they didn't wanna let me rehearse at first. I've never heard of doing a rehearsal right before the wedding that's totally ludicrous! You should have somethign the day before anyway. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks it's YOUR day and you do what you want! XOXOXO Kitty

thanks everyone... i just watch all the shows and dream of having me that way as well. I just want to enjoy it. I just feel everything i am doing doesnt meet the expectations of others which is fine but i just dont like knowing they dont like it ... doesnt make you feel all that great.

Talk to the manager. I don't see the reason behind their decision. Also, if the problem is there is another event being held their, check to see if you can have the rehearsal early morning, prior to the event. You shouldn't need more than 1/2 to 1 hour for the rehearsal.

My RH said the same thing if you call closer to the Day Of they might let you do it because they don't have another event planned. Or I would do a mini rehersal at the dinner. Trust the Maitre D, he/she will know and tell everyone what to do.

Re: So frustrated!! whats the point of RD now
My friend got married at her hall (NOT Jericho Terrace) and I was a bridesmaid--- We didn't have a rehersal at all.... Just beforehand we were given a quick run down of what to do--- It was simple and everyone did fine--- Don't worry. (Especially if most of your bridal party has been in at least on ewedding before-- they will know what to do)

Re: So frustrated!! whats the point of RD now
My hall doesn't do rehearsals. Period. They say that it doesn't really matter, it always works out fine. I'm not so sure of that, so my plan is to do a run-through the day before, or even the day before that. I'm getting married Sunday morning, so either Saturday afternoon or Friday night. There's nothing terribly odd about either site for the ceremony, either outside or in, so I think we can just set up some chairs on the lawn to create an aisle and work from there. The only thing that's really important is to get the kids--my bridal party is nearly all kids--to know what they're doing, when to walk down the aisle, and how fast. It will be OK. Unless you're planning something interesting like coming from an entrance that no one else did, I think you can rehearse somewhere else.

Re: So frustrated!! whats the point of RD now
i think it will be fine... really the biggest part of the rehearsal that needs to be practiced is that the wedding party knows who they are walking with and the order they are in.... so you can just run through that at the RD. i definitely think you should still have an RD, just to thank the bridal party and see any OOT guests that you're inviting to it... lol so if you BP says they don't see the point in still having a dinner, just say ' because i want to take you guys out to dinner to thank you all for everything'... LOL they can't really argue with that

Re: So frustrated!! whats the point of RD now
you should totally still have the rehearsal dinner...
THAT, in my opinion is the classic thing you think of, not the rehearsal itself

Re: So frustrated!! whats the point of RD now
both of my friends got married in their RH also. What they're going to do about a half hour before the actually ceremony is do a run through in the actual room or another room...and you may or may not be a part of this rehersal. It's literally a 5-minute thing for the bridal party so they know where to stand and what not. I promise you it's nothing to worry about. I would just check out some restaurants for a rehersal dinner just to have a dinner in honor of you and your FH. Good luck!

Re: So frustrated!! whats the point of RD now
We're also getting married at the RH, and our rehearsal is the day of as well..... we're still having a 'rehearsal' dinner though! It's just our way of saying thanks to everyone, and the perfect time to give out all of our gifts!
