So frustrated...what do you think?

DH is in the restaurant business, and has been his whole life, with the exception of about 6 months where he was selling cars.

He has been at his current job for almost a year. He makes decent $$, his hours are not terrible, considering it's the restaurant business, good benefits, 401k, etc. He hates his job, but he's never been happy in a job since I've known him. He got really pi$$ed about something that happened yesterday and wants to leave and go back to the car business. He did really well selling cars, but it's not dependable $$, your pay changes every week, and he left there when we found out I was pregnant so that we had more steady income.

This is his 4th job in 4 years. This makes me nuts. I think he's going through a 'grass is always greener' phase. It's so hard for me to support him leaving his job and going into something that is so uncertain, but I also don;t want to be unsupportive.

I don;t know what to do. Anyone have any suggestions?

well...we went through this when we moved down here. DH didn't mind selling cars, but it was small dealership where the traffic was bad. We didn't like the lack of steady income, so DH followed the steps needed to get back with his old company (video game retail).

We played the 'well, the POTENTIAL for more money' is awesome, but we really need steady income to get a house, we need benefits, etc. I told DH that I supported him in whatever he wanted to do, BUT he needed to consider other things besides himself. IF your husband goes back to selling cars, that's 3 months without benefits. With 2 kids, you need that!

Good Luck

I don't have advice but know what your talking about. My step-dad used to sell cars when I was little, he was good too but the money is not steady. When my mom found out she was pregnant with my brother he quit and got a more dependable job...my Step-dad now sells cars part time because he loves it!
