I had my first fitting this past week and I just didn't LOVE my dress. I like my dress, but I just don't feel like it's me. So after a couple of days of being bummed, my FH talked me into spending money to make myself happy. I hit the mall today and found new dress with less than 27 days to go. No alterations needed and returnable. Which is good since I am optimistic that once the alterations are done on my first dress I may actually LOVE it. If I do, I can return the second dress. If I'm still not wowed, I'll change into my second dress around dinner. This is the first time since my fitting that I am calm. YEAH!! Although, I'm not looking forward to telling my very generous mom who paid for the first dress of my tentative plan. The second dress:
bigger like the full skirt part with the slip and everything?
that was one of the reasons i picked the dress i did, it didn't feel comfortable to have so much material around me - just thinking about moving around, dancing, climbing in and out of cars, etc, going to the bathroom!!! don't get me wrong, i love how they look but for me it would drive me nuts.

Re: So I bought a second dress
Maybe the pouffiness of the original could be toned down if you wore a slimmer slip, or if you removed some layers of tulle. You liked the dress at one time so much that you chose it over all others - I'd hate to see you waste that money on a problem that could be fixed by choosing different undergarments and removing some of the 'pouf' of the dress.
But, it's all about what it takes to make you happy and if you're happier with that second dress, chalk the first one up as a loss and remember that there are more important things in life than money.

I know exactly how you feel - I went through the same during my first few fittings. But when it was finished, I ended up really loving it --- goodluck! it looks gorgeous!

Re: So I bought a second dress
If the first dress was bigger/poofier than you'd like, just ask the seamstress to remove some of the crinoline layers underneath. That will slim down the skirt alot.

Re: So I bought a second dress
Thanks for the words of encouragement ladies. I'm not using a slip for my first dress to try and avoid some of the poofness. The seamstress is helping to chill out some of the crionline of the dress. I'm hopeful that after the alterations are done I'll have something that I love, but since the 2nd fitting isn't until 12 days before my wedding I just figured that I needed a back up plan to maintain my sanity.
