ok so after telling fh and his mom all the info you girls gave me (thanks btw!) we all decided that although a band would be nice, its really not worth the money if we are completely fine with a dj (we almost rather a dj, but fh's mom wanted us originally to get a band until she found out how much they go for)
So anyways..can anyone give me their recommendations on DJ's and price quotes if possible? ohh ive also seen some pics of people on here that had dj's but also like a drummer or something on the side to add to it, anyone have info on this also? thanks so much for all of your help!!!!

I don't know about a drummer, but I am using In the Mood DJ, love them! FM if you need info, but I think they are a vendor on here.

I'm using VJ Entertainment (he's a vendor on here). I am also having a percussionist and a sax player to accompany the DJ. VJ Entertainment was really easy to work with and they gave me a great price. I highly recommend them.

I used Dr. Dance Entertainment and they were AMAZING!!!!!!!!! We had the DJ, MC, Vocalist, Sax player, and Drummer as well as a Jazz Trio for the cocktail hour. There were parts where they sounded very much like a band, and then there were other times where they had the DJ, MC going. FM me if you want to hear a price quote for the whole thing that will blow you away!

I am using tommy tunes for cocktail hour and reception- basic package was about 2,000 you get 2 guys. They seem really good I saw them at a Bridal Expo.

Well we're havign a pianst for our ceremony, DJ for CH & DJ for Reception Variety entertainment, a close friend of mine who sings (as his carrear) is going to sing one song at our reception. I was the 'leading lady' in the music viseo for this song

you absolutely absolutely have to use shy hi entertainment. they are amazing -- do a lot of stuff for my family -- weddings, graduations, etc and we keep going back. they are actually based in the bronx but travel anywhere -- conn, penn, and obviously LI.

He has a percussionist, piano player for cocktail hour, plasma screens if you want them - everything!! And his packages are more reasonable than any others I found for the same amount of equipment and people (DJ/emcee/drummer/etc).
