So I got my Maxi-Glide

I'll let you know how it works...I'll give it a try Saturday and report back. I heard good and bad about it, hopefully it will work for me. If not, then back it goes!

This lady from my job was telling me how great it was. She came in after using it to straighten her hair and her hair was frizzy straight!

my mom sent hers back too. i tried it and it didnt straighten it any faster or easier than my iron i have now which was a lot cheaper.

Re: So I got my Maxi-Glide

Well I used it last night and it worked great. I didn't use the steam part, just the heat part and I thought it worked really well. It did break some hair but that happens when I blow it dry anyway with a round brush. I probably won't use it everyday though since I don't blow dry everyday in the summer. I'm a satisfied Maxi-glide customer.

did you buy it with all the stuff? like the goop they sell or just the maxi glide alone? there is a big price difference.

I was soooo wondering if it was as good as they made it seem....I dont mean to come across as critizing, but you sound as though, although it worked, maybe not 100% as good as you would have liked?

Re: So I got my Maxi-Glide

I have tried a lot of flat irons. All of them made my hair pin straight and look like my ends were fried. This one made my hair shiny and it was bouncy instead of flat against my head. Yes, it pulls hair out, but as I said I have breakage from blow drying with my round brush. Hair everywhere. I think we all do and using something like this shows the hair breaking more. For me, it's not an everyday thing, just on the days I wear it down and straight. I didn't get the goop with it, but I got some other goop and that was awful. I just got back from a party and my hair is still straight and not frizzy.

I blew it dry first, then put a smoothing serum in (fructis) so there were no tangles and it was really soft. Then I used the Maxi-glide on the lowest setting, once through.

Re: So I got my Maxi-Glide

my coworker used this on my hair sat and it came out awesome, probably as good as the salon does it with a brush and hair dryer if not better. I went to a wedding that night and got lots of comments. I bought the solia though and i love it but I have never had anyone do it for me though so the differences might be the same turnout. I will have someone do it for me next time with the solia. I just love the fact that the maxi glide has the comb built in!

that's the best part, i think. the little pins help straighten the hair rather than a flat iron just flattening it. i am actually really happy with it the more i use it. and i love that it flips. so i can do a farrah fawcett 70's feathering or have a little body going. and i got it at BBB with my 20% coupon!

Re: So I got my Maxi-Glide

I also ordered the max glide. I tried my sisters and I loved it. If you dont like the brush plate you can switch to the flat plate. thats what I used. It really made a differenc e in my hair- which is naturally curly. Any flat iron you use will do some kind of damage if used often. It was perfect timing because my Hot Tools flat iron just died!

Re: So I got my Maxi-Glide

I tried all that stuff...then....I heard about ths place in Woodside Queens that does the Japanese Hair Straightenng. I was at a party and there were a bunch of girls there whose hair was pin straight- I mean pin straight and it was so muggy out. So I went up to them and asked them and they told me about this place.

So my friend and I made an appointment for last Tuesday and had it done. $170. The reason its not as much as other salons (I was quoted $650 from a salon in Huntington), is because you do the annoying time consuming stuff..like blow out your own hair. No biggie. ANyway- you cant wash your hair for like 3 days. So when i did finally wash it- it was so STRAIGHT and smoothe, I literally just shower and go- I love it. And the other girls that were in there said it lasts for like 9 months to a year. My flat iron days are OVER!!! If anyone is interested, let me know. There were people there from NJ, South Hampton, Levittown, Albany...it was insane.
