And because it has to be VERY COLD and my dr's office's fridge can't keep it VERY COLD (don't know why...) I have to come in the day it's delivered (on dry ice I was told) to get the innoculation. Fine but what a pain...I was hoping to go in Monday morning before work as I work late on Mondays. And it's not covered on my insurance. At least I have flex spending!

But I am immunininized (or however it's spelt) against mumps, rubella and measles.

DEFINITELY worth it especially if you never had the disease befoe. The older you are the worse the case and it can be very dangerous of you are pregnant or have very young children in the house. Now you have to ge it every 10 years!!!

Oh that stinks...I feel your pain!
Did they say they had to do it twice (the CDC has a whole patient friendly information report about the vaccine, and recommends adults get it twice 6-8 weeks apart).

However, I'm freaking out now...because I don't remember this vaccine being on dry ice or anything of the sort! Actually, I think one office had it sitting out for a while. Yickes.

I think I'll get the titers done again just to be sure I have the immunity now.

Thanks for the info...and it's worth the vaccine. you don't want chicken pox as an adult, especially if you are pregnant.

I don't know why the dry ice thing. Do you want me to ask when I call tomorrow?

Yes they did mention the 2 shots week apart.

Thankfully we weren't preparing to TTC until 2005 anyway. I didn't want to go to Ireland pregnant and not drink!

If you find out let me know about the temp. of the vaccines...when I see my MD in about a month I'll ask her as well.

Thanks!

I was doing some research on the vaccines that newborns get and came across a link from the CDC on the Varicella vaccine. They list all sorts of info. including what temperature, etc. the vaccine should be stored/shipped at. Hope this helps answer some questions... http://www.cdc.gov/nip/vaccine/varicella/default.htm

My dr's office is moving soon (like this week or next) so they got rid of their fridge. That's why I have to go in the day it arrives.
