Well they said it ate away at his liver. Like as if he was a heavy drinker and he gained 24 pounds high chlosterol and blood pressure. But again I don't know anyone who eats McDonalds (or any fast food) everyday or 3 times a day. NOW If he did it and said ill eat it 1 time a week or 2 times a week ok then but not 3 times a day.

While I agree that it was silly to think that anyone would eat Mcdee's 3 times a day I found it somewhat facinating. The fact that 4 Dr.'s told him that all he would see was an increase in his triglycorides (or something), but other then that he should be fine is amazing.
I am 99% positive that he was not a vegan. His girlfriend was a vegan chef and he ate a lot of vegan foods, but he was a carnavior. He did go on a vegan detox diet right after his 30 days of McDee's.

I actually didn't hear him say he was a Vegan so I could be wrong. My DH told me that he heard Tom Arnold on Jay leno say that he was a Vegan so I Could be wrong!

I thought it was a great documentary! Of course nobody eats it three meals a day but there are lots of people who eat it 3 or more times a week.
Just an interesting study on human behavior. And it definitely made me think.

I have to agree and yes, while nobody in their right mind would eat Mcdonald's 3 times a day, it's crazy to see what damage it would do to your body if you did.

i saw parts of it -- it could have been a great piece, but his hypothesis that people eat fast food three times a day every day killed it

They had some guy on who eats at least 1(sometimes 2) big macs a day and he was healthy and skinny. Find me someone who eats McDonalds three times a day though. Breakfast lunch and dinner And always supersizes and Ill watch it again more seriously.

Re: So I watched the movie Supersize me!
I don';t think he was a vegan, but his wife is.
Anyway, I really loved watching that movie I thought ti was so interesting and although no one eats mcD's 3 meals a day every day it stil shocked me how quickly he had kindey and liver damage, etc. After only 2 weeks his doctors told him to stop immediately, I thought that was scary. On one hand most people don't eat fast food that often. I eat Mc donald's or burger king about once every 2 months... and your body can easily process toxins in small amounts, it's just bombarding them that made it not safe for large amaounts. But I think e did have a good point in that McDonald's is NOT real food. It is not food that is meant to be consumed every day even once a day. McDonald's doens't always portray it that way. You think it's like a regular restaraunt, and some people relaly do think that. I think the girls who sued McDonald's are stupid. If you eat french fries every day you are going to get a fat @$$, it's fact. But still I don't expect any of my food to be so poionous that if I eat it every day for 2 weeks it will cause kidney problems.
Also, even though we don't eat McDonald's every single day, we do eat processed foods and junik foods quite often. it isn't only mc donald's that is poisoning us.
I don't think the move ever pretended to be anything other than an extreme case. it was an experiment, and it had nothing to do with saying that people actually DO eat McD's everyday, although for a certain time period I was in summer school and FH had a summer job in the same areas and we'd meet up for mcD's breakfast every morning. Now that I've seen supersize me, I'm thinking that was SO bad. I think ti definitely can change the way you think about food, and it makes me glad I only eat mcDonalds ahandful of times per year

I don't think he hypothesised this at all. I think he was presenting an extreme case and din't pretned that he wasn't.
If he ate fast food once a day, there would be no movie. He'd have gained weight...big deal

I thought this was a great movie. Morgan was NOT a vegan. His then girlfriend is a vegan chef, though, so a lot of the things he ate before hand were vegan. He is in the process of tweaking this film so that schools can show it as an educational piece. I think it was very good and eye-opening. To me, that's priceless.

Re: So I watched the movie Supersize me!
I never saw this movie, but I've heard about it. I think its BS... like june262004 says, who eats McDonald's everyday?
Only Don Gorske, who made the Guinness Book of Records for eating over 19,000 Big Macs, eats McDs at least once everyday, and his 6ft frame maintains his weight @ 170lbs.
I think the fact that he was affected afterwards has nothing to do with McDs, but something else he exposed his body to. @ 14, my 1st job was at McDs, and they gave us a free meal during our shifts, so I ate it 5x/week, and never affected my body, nor gained weight. Also, in the summer of '97 (I was 19), I ate McDs religiously and if anything, I lost weight! 'Supersize Me' let on more than what should be believed.

There is beef tallow in the oil they use for the fries. I thought this was a great movie. Although most people don't eat McD's 3 times a day, his point was to prove that the food is unhealthy and if eaten a lot, it will cause health problems. His hypothesis came from a court case where the court said there was no proof that McDonald's food was unhealthy (if I am remembering that correctly.) So he set out to obtain some sort of proof and documentation of what effect eating McD's exclusively would do to a person's body.
I also read the book 'fatland' and in surveys done in different research studies on similar topics, they found that many inner city residents do eat fast food at least once a day because it is cheap and for working parents, it is a fast meal.
