and personally, I had a horrible experience. I signed in like they asked me. She was very nice to me and explained their policies and sales to me. So far so good, I thought to myself. She told me to have a seat and that someone would be with me momentarily.
45 MINUTES LATER I decided I was tired of waiting and asking for a salesperson to just be told 'she'll be with you in a moment'. Just as we were out the door the salesperson comes to me and apologizes for the wait. Stupid me, I decide to give her a shot. She asked me what size I was and I said between a 14-16. I tell her that I wanted to try on one of the oleg cassini dresses that they had. She blatanly told me 'No, it doesnt come in your size'. So I told her I still wanted to try it on. PS - Ive been going to the gym 5 days a week for three months. Im bound to lose weight. Well, she insisted I look in the plus size aisle. My sister who has no shame in her game, says to the lady 'Let her try on the dress for God's sake. She's going to gym like a fiend and she's all ready lost a good amount.' I tell the saleslady not to bother, because I was no longer interested in the dress. She asked us to wait in the dressing room and she would pull some BM dresses for us. She never did. The girls went on the floor, pulled the dresses themselves and tried them on. She came by once in a while to chime in 'oh, that's a pretty dress'. Whatever..... we left and headed to bonaventure. Just thought I'd share my experience with everyone.

Yep, sounds like David's to me. I was the same size as you are now when I bought my dress, and I didn't even BOTHER looking at the plus size dresses. I bought an 18 in the Misses section. I hate that they push the Plus Size section to the 14-16 girls, because the selection is not as good. That was the NUMBER ONE thing I hated about working there, and used to tell my bosses about those concerns all the time. Of course it was ignored.
BTW, my dress was exchanged later for a 14 and it's been taken in 3 times. It Looks GREAT - you've seen pics, right Divabride?

I just wanted to add that what happened is funny because they ordered my dress that I tried on and it didnt even ZIP all the way, the girl said, well if your losing weight you are very close to this size....SO it is sooo strange how one person there can be nice and the next is pure EVIL!

I bought my shoes, gloves, slip and bra from David's in Carle Place and my BM dress for my brother's wedding. I found the dress experience less than desirable but was ok with the other purchases. I was just in there this week buying my gloves and the manager was getting ripped a new one by an irate B2B....
Sorry you had that experience, but I know some have had good experiences.

Yes, I remember your dress. I especially LOVED the back of it. You got that at Davids? I ended up going to bonaventure and I loved my experience there. The girl was VERY helpful, but not pushy. When I asked her about my very ample bosom and the sizing of the dresses, she said I had nothing to worry about. Bonaventure was wonderful!!

BOOOOOOOOOOO! I called them and they were nasty to me so I called back and cancelled the appointment. The one in Yonkers was nice though. I think one of my BM is going to Carle Place so I may have to make an appearance to see her in her dress!

I have found similar dressed to the one that I like by Davinci Bridal and Alfred Angelo. I haven't tried them on yet, but they look similar, I am going on Friday to start my dress shopping.

Yes, my dress is David's 5431. The credit on the bustle goes to my Seamstress Karin Yngvesdotter in Astoria though. I LOVE the back of my dress, and I love my dress in general!!!!!!
I had a BAD experience with David's in my hometown of Danbury, CT. Lemme see if I can find the thread and bump it for you.
That Said, I'll just say that Carle Place bent over backwards to help me (once you have a bad experience at one David's the others will mess themselves trying to make you feel better about THEIR store). They STILL got the order wrong the first time around, and had to reorder it, but all is good now.

From what I've heard and from what learned from experiance it's much better to go to the smaller salons instead of the chains. Better service :)

Diva, I am sorry you had that experience!!!! I had a similar one where I was made to feel like I was TOO FAT for their biggest dresses. I wear a 14 normally and of course they had to repeat 50 million times that I am supposed to add 2 sizes to my jeans size to find my dress size. Too bad I tried on dresses in other salons that were several sizes too small for me with no problems. Needless to say, anyone who makes me feel like my weight is an issue does not get my business!!!! This was the location in Long Island City.
