So, if people call to tell me that they're not coming...
does that count as the official RSVP, or should I tell them to mail it in?

That's so annoying....the response card is there for a reason. When someone calls to tell you that, I would simply say, 'I'm sorry you won't be able to attend. Even though you let me know, could you please drop the response card in the mail. It's easier for me to keep track of everyone that way.' However, if they fail to send back the response card, I would count their phone RSVP as a response.

I would ask them to mail it in as well. just incase you forget. or right down an official list for when you do the final head counts incase they dont send it in.

I would take it as their official response if they say definitively that they aren't coming. Some people take forever to put things in the mail I have male friends who are 31 years old who tell me they still haven't bothered to open my STD card yet and call to ask then the wedding is!!! These are the people who are not going to RSVP if I promised $100 for mailing in the card. I will have to call and take that as their response.

don't people know they are supposed to send back the card! the persongettign married is not always the person doing the headcount!! yes, count it, but tskthemt o send the card if they can. that way you have everything in writing!!!

I agree with Jax.
That's pretty obnoxious, though!
(BTW, my own grandmother hasn't sent back her response card, and I'm sure she won't, either. She just assumes we know she's coming! Which we do, but still!)

Some people...
You can look at it this way at least they called... Personally I'd take it as an official no. I plan on keeping track of RSVPs in an excel spreadsheet so I'd just put them in as a no and add the date they called.
