Obviously I've seen a lot of pictures so I get the jist...
But we've only had one wedding in my family in my life. Had a few elopers and courthouse weddings but I'm the first grandkid actually having a 'wedding'. So there's been no shower schooling for me.
...and I've missed almost all of my friends showers because I moved out of state and was only able to come home for the actual wedding.
How does it go?
Like you come in... there's food... you visit... people play games... then you open presents?
Then what?
And when you open presents... do you have to read each card out loud entirely?
I'm confused. HELP.

Havent been to alot of showers either its really not my thing, but you basically have the jest of it, At my sis shower her friend kinda ran it because she knew what the 'usual' protocol was. you visit you eat you play games open presents then eat cake lol ! I dont think you have to read the whole card just mention who its from and maybe if its something short or funny read what the card says.

Yeah, it pretty much goes like how you said.
I didn't read out what was written on the card, just the name of the person that got me the gift. I should've read out the cards, because Ilana wrote something like 'F UCK THE HATERS' in reference to the MIL But generally, no, people don't read out what was written.
Don't forget, there's also cake.
So it usually goes:
Guests get there about a half hour before you and start on coffee/tea/mimosas.
You get there with the FH and act surprised.
A game, maybe. Then food, and maybe more food if it's buffet and you like to plow it in. Then another game.
Then PRESENTS! Usually gift bingo is played during presents.
Then cake.
Then the menfolk return and help cargo everything back to the casa.

when I opened my gifts, I read (or pretended to read) every card to myself and then said who it was from and then opened the gift held it up so everyone could see it and then kept right on going. I was so nervous all I wanted to do was get it over with asap

What I did was just walk in, greet everyone and grabbed some champagne because I was pretty nervous. I sat at the table with my BP and then when it came time to opening presents, I didn't read each card, I just said out loud who it was from and showed everyone the present and then onto the next. HTH!

i only have a MOH and she wont even be there. its just going to be my friends back home and my female family members.
i'm guessing ill just show up with my mom.
the presents are staying there until we come back for the reception in december. :(

I didn't read anything on the cards. My sister said who it was from and then I looked at them to thank them after opening it.
