So I'm going to meet with my Priest this week... HELP!

I've seen a dozen or so of these threads... but really... what do I say? What do I wear? What do I do? We're meeting on Wednesday, July 9th. I'm so scared... I haven't been to church regularly since last summer, but I really want to get back into it. FH wants to get confirmed, and we certainly want to raise our children Catholic... I'm just so nervous. I ALREADY had to call and reschedule the appointment (It was originally for 08/01) I feel like a moron.

don't be nervous, i am sure it will all go well. I was also real nervous before. Dh is catholic and i am not but we got married in a catholic church, i thought i would hear comments about me not being catholic, plus considering i am not catholic i was afraid they would ask me something and i wouldnt know the answer lol.

We were able to book without meeting with a priest beforehand. DH was baptised in that church, was an altar boy, his mom taught CCD classes and is part of the choir there so they knew them. It wasnt until a few months before the wedding they called us in, just asked a few questions nothing major. But then we requested the monsignor to marry us and he called us in to just talk to us and again i was nervous, i kept thinking 'we did this already what now' lol. Let me say that the talk he had with us just a few short weeks before the wedding helped so much and also got me emotional. He just wanted to see how we were as a couple and give us some advice, and that advice was exactly what we needed at that moment. It actually ended up being a real good thing

don't be nervous. We had our meeting with our priest last saturday (and finally are definitely booked). FH is catholic but I'm not (episcopalian). I didn't wear anything fancy, just a nice sweater and jeans (it was a rainy day).

we pretty much just filled out some papers (where we were baptized and confirmed and stuff) and he asked us a few questions that are pretty routine for the church, like are we both committing to this marriage willingly, are there any physical issues that we know of that would prevent us from having children, and are we related (we, even the priest, laughed at that one lol).

it really wasn't a big deal at all- then he had FH sign a paper to send to the diocese that stated he was promising to raise our kids catholic (I'm not catholic so I didn't sign) but the priest said to me that he didn't want to offend me and just to raise them christian. But I knew they did that so it didn't bother me.

They don't ask you things about the religion or anything it's not a quiz lol and you really don't have to say much, he asks questions and you answer but it's pretty much yes or no.

Everyone seems to get so nervous for this and for some reason I wasn't nervous at all- our priest is wonderful though- I hope yours is just as great!

Try not to be nervous...I was nervous as well but it was fine....this a happy time and priests are glad to join in the celebration.

My friends FH was not confirmed and they hada full mass...some people do get confirmed before there wedding...my FSIL converted and she took classes for 6months (this is not necc. to get married in a catholic church) she wanted to do it.

The most important thing they want to hear is that you plan on raising your kids catholic...HTH

Thanks everyone... I'm feeling better about it... but he asked me all these questions about the date and when it was, what day, did it fall during Lent (it's the Friday after Easter). I answered all his questions about the date (I checked all of this when booking my RH). In addition, we had SUCH a hard time coming to agreement on a day to meet... I'm afraid he thinks I'm too busy for church or something.

Yes, I know I'm paranoid... I tend to stress more over the little things.
