so is anyone not going sunning for their honeymoon..

i unfortunately was diagnosed with a melanoma last week on my face no less and i can't be in the sun anymore (everything came back fine after surgery)..i feel like i've ruined the honeymoon now..not that we've planned it yet but i wanted to go somewhere tropical of course and now i feel like i'd be miserable there if i can't lay out..i was a huge sun worshiper hence the problem but now i don't know where to go...i'm so sad

You can still go to a tropical place, just be sure to use sunblock.

Go to Alaska! It's supposed to be beautiful in June.

You're better of not laying out, they say these days the sun is getting more and more harmful. My mom is a physician asst. she's alsways telling me the one less min you get of sun exposere the one less rinkle you have on your skin. I love the sun and beautifull days, but I always say better safe the sorry. I use very strong SPF.

You can definitely still go somewhere tropical. My father has had things removed and is also not allowed to go into the sun anymore but what my parents do is go on cruises and to the pool or beach and they sit in the shade - that way they are not laying in the sun but can still enjoy the beautiful weather - on cruises like celebrity there are plenty of lounge chairs right near the pool on the lower deck in the shade you could simply sit in the shade and still dip in the pool and enjoy yourself.

i guess i'm just afraid of getting it again..but sunblock and sitting in the shade might save not going somewhere tropical for my honeymoon..thanks for the advice

First of all, let me say I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
I am extremely fair skinned, and I know how dangerous the sun can be!

I'm sure there are many beautiful and fun places you can go that aren't tropical. Your honeymoon is important, but your health is even more valubable.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

My mom was also diagnosed with melanoma, and don't let it steer you away from tropical climates! Just keep sunscreen on, wear a hat, and stay in the shade when possible. Don't forget even alaska has harmful UVB rays...

I myself getting picked on by my family(all 100% italian)for being pale, they all are either tan or have that olive skin, me i am fairskinned...But skipping the sun and putting suncreen on will take years off your face keeping those wrinkles at bay!! I will be 28 this year and strangers do not believe i am in my late 20s, they always think i am 22-23..

Europe is great that time of year! You can do outdoor things like sightseeing without having to sit out at a pool or beach (but you still could if you want to). So much to see and do there! And as the other girls said, Alaska is very nice that time of year too.

Hi- First sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
Hope everything works out ok-

Second like everyone said- you could still go to a sunny place- just put on the highest sunblock and you could even wear a big straw hat - like a J LO. hat. They are very fashionable and totally cool.
I always bring mine on vacation-

Good luck!

I think you could maybe still go and just wear very strong sunscreen and a hat to protect your face. I get nervous too because I get sunspots from the sun if I don't protect myself, and my sister has very minor case of melasma, but she's so afraid it's going to get so bad from going in the sun. I wish I was naturally tan.

SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR PREDICAMENT.... my DH and I opted to go to Europe for our Honeymoon (Austira and Prague to be exact) instead of the typical beach vacation and had a wonderful time. I am very fair and didn't want to spend my vaca fighting sunburn. Also DH finds going to the beach to be boring... we had a fab time on our own and were blissfully free of other honeymooners on our trip!
