I know, it always seemed like Nicole was kind of in Paris's shadow, and besides I think Nicole is more mature than Paris anyways.

That's the thing. No one knows for sure.
I think the reason why is that they are both in two different places in their lives.
Nicole is engaged to be married and Paris is still being Paris.

I do have to say this: I am not a huge fan of 'The Simple Life; I only catch it now and again. However, it is really Nicole that steals the show. I was never her biggest fan, but she is very cute and likable. Very funny and witty too. Paris, in my opinion, has zero personality and charm. There have recently been write-ups saying the same. This and the fact that she has recently lost weight and is looking more glam. I, too, wonder if Paris was threatened.
