So last night was another exercise in the power play of FMIL

So FH and I go to my cousin's last night for my aunt and uncles 40th anniversary party. As we're driving there he says btw, Leah (our 2 week old niece) is in the ER, she's congested so I told my sister and mom to keep us posted. Okay, totally fine, I understand it, I agree, keep us posted.

Fast forward about an hour, my aunt and uncle are there not even 20 minutes (it was a surprise) and his phone rings...its FMIL...in hysterics that he needs to get to the hospital ASAP, they don't know whats wrong with the baby, this and that, so he takes MY car and runs over there, now he's not a doctor, nor is he immediate family, so what good is it for him to go, HE CAN'T DO ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! So he leaves, I'm obviously annoyed and I talk to him like 2.5 hours later, he tells me the baby has RSV, it's a virus that babies get, 2 of my cousins kids had it, and although it was nerve racking, they were FINE!!!! So he's like I'm going to get food for my mom and sister, blah blah blah, I;ll see you back at the apartment, I'm like well my parents are gonna take me back there I'll get my stuff and go home tonight and he actually got annoyed at me, I was not going to spend a whole night by myself because he had to run for mommy. It's always when we're having a nice weekend, a good time, she has to flex her mommy muscles and make him go running, it p i $$es me off so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now here I am, alone again, wondering why I always come in second place to her, if his sister had called and said listen,don't get nervous but we have the baby in the er, when you're done at the party could you come down for a while, I'd appreciate it, I'd be like , totally do what you gotta do, but it's always HER, always miss,- I-can't-mind-my-own-business and it's making me insane.

I don't begrudge him the fact that his niece is sick, I understand that and I don't wish anything but a full recovery for her, she's my niece too, but the fact of the matter is, his mom will use ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING to get FH to come running, he's so desperate for her approval because her favorites are her daughters that he'll do anything for her, I'm just so tired of it. Do I confront FMIL and be like, look, what's your problem? Why can't you let us have our own lives? Or do I just live with this FOREVER and continue to play second fiddle to her? Thanks for reading ladies, I know it's long but I really needed to vent

God. . .what an attention *****. She needs to understand that YOU have a family as well, and he doesn't need to come running to her every 30 seconds when something goes wrong.
Don't worry; I had to have a heart-to-heart on a family vacation with FH about MIL. . .she was trying to smother me and make me her best friend. Then, when she had a free minute while I was in the shower, she went crying to FH that I hate her and that we were supposed to bond on this trip. Meanwhile, I don't need a new best friend. . .I have plenty! You need to be a MIL, not a BFF to me. And she tries to guilt FH into coming over to visit, especially during weeks where we literally have ONE NIGHT TO OURSELVES. UGH!!! I hear you!!!!!
