If you change your name and need a new passport with the changes, and it's under 1 year, you will not be charged for the changes....I missed the 1 year cut off 7 days!

I am so annoyed that in order to change your passport you need to mail them your original marriage certificate.... what if they lose it!!!

You have to send in your orig marriage certificate. That is crazy!!
I have to change my passport and I really do not want to send in my original.

if they looe it I'd fight to make them responsible, but it's only like $10 for duplicates of your Marriage license.

I have the same thing! I am actually going to Town Hall tomorrow & going to do my change. You can get an 'official' transcript from Town Hall ($10) & send that for your passport so you can keep your original! That is what I am doing!

] Can you explain what you mean by if it's under 1 year? 1 year from when? Your wedding date, or the date your passport was issued?
