And the jeweler is going to charge me $90.00 to fix it!!! I am so upset - I lost one of the bagetts on the side of my wedding ring. We took it to the jeweler and he told me, it happens, wear and tear. I was like - I've only been wearing it for 3 months!!!! So if its wear and tear - I can expect to pay $90.00 every 3 months or so?? Thats such BS. When I get it back - We are going to get a plain band (like I originally wanted) so I can wear the plain band all the time and my pretty one for nicer occasions. I am so sad right now - My finger feels so bare . I just had to get this off my chest because I am so pissed off right now!!!

When I read the title of the post, I actually thought that you meant a french roll of bread. I was like why would she post this on BHB and not NWR.
I think I need my head examined this morning. Sorry about the band. I am sure that it will be fine after they fix it.
I am so sorry. Maybe you want to look into insurance on it?

Re: So mad - I lost a bagette!
I was told to have all the stones in my rings checked every 6 months to make sure they are secure.
Things do shift and loosen over time so a good security measure is to bring the ring in twice a year and have them clean it too!!!

Maybe you want to look into switching jewelers. That does not sound like wear and tear to me, it sounds like the baguette was not set tightly enough in the ring in the first place.
Just a thought...

Is your ring insured? Im not sure if that would be covered or not, but I would def look into that!! Its better to shell out insurance dues than have to replace diamonds!!

That doesn't seem right - You should have it checked by another jeweler maybe...

Re: So mad - I lost a bagette!
unfortunately that can be correct. If you are someone that wears the ring everyday and perhaps on a few occasions happen to bang your ring hand or indiectly knock the ring on a hard service one too many times it can happen.
Have the jewelery when he mounts the new diamond to check the surrounding diamonds. I lost one of the baguettes out of my engagement ring and it was almost 150 to fix it. But I was glad that it wasnt the center stone.
My ring jewelery recommends checking the setting every 6 mths..he does it for free.

Re: So mad - I lost a bagette!
Sorry you had to go thru this but it made me look at my ring.
For my ring, I got the insurance. I also bring it to a jeweler to have it checked every so often, not every 3 months though.

that's why I requested something simple. I do not wear my engagement ring to work for that same reason.

I am so sorry! I also check my ring all the time to make sure all the stones are still there! Hopefully it won't happen again though!

That should not happen. I would go to another jeweler and wear your fancy ring all the time!

that should NOT happen after 3 months! You may want to consider another jeweler!
