so this morning - since i am a princess and do not drive in the snow - i had my DH drive me to work. we have alternate side parking in our area - and i am watching all these people trying to shovel their cars out - and said - are all these people crazy?? alternate side is definitely cancelled!
well i just called 311 - and it is in effect for today and tomorrow!!! IS THE CITY INSANE??? WHO CAN I CALL AND YELL @??
i will so pay the ticket tomorrow before i move my car!!! this is completely Ludicrous!!!!! I AM SO MAD!! i feel like this is a cheap way for them to make a buck!!!

BRING IT TRAFFIC COP!! i left my car right in my spot! pffssstttt......alternate side.... SO RIDICULOUS!
it seems the whole city agrees w/ me - except the mayor - so this is my defiance. i compare it to tying yourself to a tree they are trying to cut down. my car is tied to its spot!

I agree, I was in SHOCK when I heard that it was in effect yesterday and today. It's is disgusting. I am not sure who you should call, but if they do ticket you I would fight it.

There were FOUR cops, count them, Four, on my street this morning writing tickets. i had no idea why until DH told me. I was like, where is everyone supposed to go.

WELL - i just wrote my councilman and told him that its unsafe for the community. i seriously live in the hilliest part of queens - its like the ice capades. i explained that we have a lot of elderly that live in the area and will be unable to move thier cars, the sidewalks are icy, and there is no where to go once you have moved your car.
i am prepared for battle on this. i am so angry!!

NYC $ucks.....the weather was horrible yesterday and the roads are horrible today...but school was OPEN of course! Most schools in Nassau are closed today....
Does not surprise me that alt side of the street was not cancelled.....Bloomberg doesn't have to drive to work...why should he give a $hit

Rock on girl, don't back down. I am sure I will see you on the news this weekend My friend is a teacher & they have alternate side at her school. She had to walk ELEVEN blocks yesterday after she found a spot.

that mutha - he had the nerve to say 'sleep in' - i have been @ work before 8 am all this week because i have not driven in!! trust me bloomie - there is no sleeping going on!
I saw this on the news (I am all LI) and there was this old man with a heart condition trying to dig out his car. It was so sad.

I just got a breaking news alert from wnbc.com that the mayor has granted parking ticket amnesty for tickets given after the storm after receiving so many complaints.
