So many changes!

So Ive been MIA for almost a month now and things have been crazy! First, after having an amazing engagement party we realized that we're wasting money inviting the relatives that 'you have to' along with coworkers, family friends, etc. We had about 70 people at the party, and for the wedding theres another 120 on the guestlist. Those who came to the engagement party are people we see daily and are a huge part of our lives. Those who didnt come were more or less the people that just 'have' to be invited to the wedding for formalities. Than we decided to sit down and really go over the budget. What started off as a wedding for 20-25000 had somehow skyrocketed to close to 40000 minus the little extras and honeymoon. The wedding no longer became fun for us, instead everything was just dollar signs.

After a lot of research, we have decided on a destination wedding. We called our close family/friends and everyone who was at the engagement party has confirmed they will go whenever we get married So now, with a much shorter guest list (approx 60-70 people) we are going to get married in Disney where we got engaged. Our new wedding date is February 25th, 2013. We are so beyond excited, and even more excited that we are saving over 15,000 by making the switch! Its now become a 5 day extravaganze with our closest family and friends! (And yes, all of the activites have been included into our total and we are still saving that much!)

I still intend to check these boards frequently and cant wait to see all your amazing weddings! We are less than a year away from it being our time!

Congrats to you for making a decision that was right for you and FH! I'm sure Disney will be amazing!!

Thanks everyone! Fh and i are so much happier and relaxed! Knowing the budget is in check is a giant weight thats been lifted! We go next month for our first planning session and i cant wait

Congrats on your decision.....too often we do what other people want so it's so nice to hear that you and FH decided what's best for you and moved forward with it!

Congratulations! I've been in Disney and seen weddings happening at different places. They are always elegant, beautiful, and most of all FUN and relaxed! Did you decide WHERE you want to get married in Disney? The wedding pavilion is absolutely beautiful! I dragged FH there when we were in Disney over the summer - and we weren't even engaged yet!

We're getting married at the Wedding Pavilion Its beautiful, and has that 'church' type feel to it. The reception is going to at the Beach Club. We cant wait! We are also doing a fireworks dessert party at Epcot as a welcome party for all our guests. Im really so excited over our change of plans!

That sounds like fun! I hope people look at our wedding like that and not an inconvience. Im really praying our guestlist stays where we want it. We havent told everyone who is invited of the change, just those who we wouldnt be okay with missing our wedding. Really hoping we stay around 60 so its still small and fun!

That sounds so exciting! COngrats!!!! WOW... I can't even imagine how great your pictures are going to look!! You need to take pics near Cinderella's castle. The photo ops there are ENDLESS!

I'm so jealous of this!!
We considered this option actually ... to have a smaller destination wedding at Disney. Do you mind sharing or FMing details of what it costs? Not that I think we'll change but I'm curious. Someone told me they have a really steep rental fee but I didn't think that was true.

WOW! Congrats!!! That's awesome. Kudos to you on making the decision to do what is going to make YOU and Your FH happy!

That is so exciting!!!! I love DIsney and wish FH would agree to having a wedding there... I would ahve it there in a heart beat. I have always dreamed of getting married at Disney.. But for now a wedding here will do. I did tell FH that we are goin to renew our vows in Disney. So I hope my dream comes ture at some point.
