I was so happy to book my RH but the more I think about it, the more I am not happy
I love the look of the hall but hate the location
My main doubt with the hall is the Ceremony. Neither the indoor or outdoor area is what I have been dreaming of
the past few days I have spent hours looking up alternate options for a ceremony
Church is not an option for us and neither is the historical chapel
I left numerous messages for Planting Fields & Bailey Arboretum- no responses
I also called vanderbilt and they are not an option either
OWG- only has outdoor option, costs 2k and in the event of rain they put a tent which will cost another 900!
i'm all out of ideas for other ceremony locations
we have a tasting at our hall in 2 weeks and we could get our money back after the tasting, so I really want to either become happy with the hall or change our mind and find something else
FH is not happy with all this and thinks im being crazy
I don't know, I just keep thinking about my 'dream' and the hall just isn't it...it just happens to be a good enough place that will not break the bank and a place that FH & I both agreed on
am i being ridiculous? should i just shut up and stop and go with it? or do i need to keep figuring out what will make me happy?
any suggestions on ceremony only places?
and honestly we've seen so many halls there really aren't many more left that fit our criteria and i dont really want to go searching again, as some of you know the RH process was sooo difficult for us
(my other doubt is about the cost of my dress but I wont go into that since this vent is already so long)

Re: so many doubts
well, honestly its hard to find the PERFECT place. You'll always find something you wont like about it.
I could go on and on listing all the weird things FH hated about every place he saw.
The place he loves - land's End..I hate the round lights and the parking lot lol.
If you don't LOVE it, go see more places.

Re: so many doubts
Do you and your FH have any favorite parks? Frank Melville park is one of our favorites and we were originally going to have our entire wedding there near the bamboo forest. It's right in Setauket. If you go through the Bates House which is right on the edge of the park, you get a big chunk of the land for the entire day and it's only $600, with use of the house if you need it!
If we end up staying with CB, the ceremony location isn't really what I've dreamed of either, but FH loves it so I'm okay with it. Otherwise we'll go with Thatched which is my dream ceremony location!
Good luck!

Re: so many doubts
Well my first question is - what RH is it? That may help me/the rest of us think of places that dont fit that.
But w/ that in mind - what about the RH that you have booked did you love originally? I'm talking specifics - the decor, the customer service??
Honestly - you can get married in the middle of the street if you want.. you just need a pastor/officiant or whatever to do the service.
Is there a park or just overall special place that means something to you and FH?

Why can't you do a church? I do not know if you are near Queens but the Queens Botanical Gardens allows weddings there and it is beautiful

Re: so many doubts
we can't do a church due to family/religious reasons
we don't have a favorite park
and i want to keep the ceremony location close to RH this way most people will attend
RH is North Ritz Club
I love the indoor space its beautiful, huge skylight, simple elegance
but it's on a main road
I don't feel like the ceremony is intimate...im worried about the noise level for the outdoor ceremony- cars, honking, motorcycles etc
the place itself is beautiful, the grounds are pretty and the staff has been nothing but wonderful and extremely accommodating
their indoor option is downstairs, low ceiling, no windows...i don't love it
and partly i feel this is because we saw places that were more expensive, so now i feel like we settled!
i fell in love with 2 other places that were more expensive and now i just dont feel like anything compares

Re: so many doubts
I'm so sorry lovey, we will find an answer don't worry!!! Do you want a venue that does one wedding at a time? What other two places did u love? Would you change your date to make the wed less money? I know how you feel, I wanted a grand affair to, but didn't have the budget!!!! I have come to realize that my RH is beautiful and although having a wedding at an RH is not unique like I wanted, I have made it unique by the touches I have added.

Certainly don't settle if you're not happy - the venue might grow on you but ultimately if you're truly concerned with the main road/ intimacy (good reason) and if it's still in your power to change your venue - go for it. Your wedding day is something that will remain with you for the rest of your marriage and the building foundation to how you will approach things in unison with FH.
Have you tried contacting the other two more expensive halls and further negotiating? If the cost difference isn't too severe - it might be worth it to book in order to ensure your happiness.
You are NoT being ridiculous!!! I told my FH - I've been dreaming about this DAY since I saw my parents wedding album when I was 7 - you've been dreaming about the woman you can bare to have sex with for the rest of your life- you get many days and I get one. So damn it – I will try and have (to the best of my abilities) what I want!
Defiantly go to the tasting.. it may make it easier for you to fall in love with NRC. i can understand where you are coming from with not loving the ceremony area. I feel the same way about CLM. The inside chapel in case of rain is not the nicest of places and there were other places that had nicer areas. But something there made you book the place. If there werent things about it you loved you never would have decided to give them that deposit.
If your still not totally in love after the tasting, continue to look around. I know you and your Fh have been thorogh a lot in your search but if you are really that unhappy, you dont want that unhappiness hanging over your head on your special day.
keep your head up

Re: so many doubts
I totally feel you.... I do love my hall, butttt not te indoor option if it rains, and i on the other hand actuaklly gave up church for an outdoor ceremony. At the moment i am also doubting my hall due to the size of my guest. I keep thinking of how crowded its going to look and that aside for paying for 250 guest, i still have to pay for chair covers, uplighiting and for the outdoor furniture to make my hall my dream... so its ok to feel like that.

Re: so many doubts
hmmm to be honest I dont really care wheree I get married, as long as i get married and its not a dump, I'm more concerned with where the reception is. My mother wanted me to get married in the greek church, and I'm not very religious and greek ceremonies are very over the top and the church itself is too, not my style, but like I said, I'm just happy to be getting married, as long as your happy with your reception, don't stress about the ceremony, the only thing you get pictures of @ the ceremony is you walking down the isle and standing up on the alter, which looks the same in everyones photos!

I totally know how you feel about your venue being on a main road, I had the same problem with Jericho Terrace, it's right on Jericho Turnpike, there's a 711 right down the road, etc. and I kind of thought it was weird, but ultimately I really loved the room we are going to be in, and that was more important to me. I figured at least it's convienent for everyone and close to the hotel!
As for North Ritz, I hear you about the ceremony room, when we went to visit I didn't love it either, that was one of the main reasons we didn't consider booking there, but we are getting in married in Jan so that would have been our only option. A friend of mine got married there and they had an outdoor cermony and it was beautiful!!!! Honestly no one heard cars, or anything else, that never even crossed my mind!
If you are still really unsure, you should definitely not settle.. I was having secnd thoughts too about our venue and I really had to think about the reasons why we booked where we did and I went to visit again, and once I saw the room again I felt SO much better!
Don't worry you will figure it out! Your wedding will be amazing and beautiful!

Re: so many doubts
I had a feeling you weren't happy bc the last time I spoke with you - you seemed very unsure. Don't stress yourself out to much!! It is one day and we all forget how quick it will go. Yes you want to have the wedding of your dreams but think of how much more money you will have in your pocket that you saved some and didn't go overboard. North Ritz Club is beautiful!! Can you get married on a beach? I'm sure there has to be somewhere you can have the ceremony!! This website is great to get other peoples inputs but sometimes it makes you question the decisions you have already made. Everyone has a different budget so what is affordable to some isn't to others. Take my advice do not piss off the FH bc i went through a similar situation- i don't think Oheka would make me happy i would prob find something i didn't like about it . The one place that was my dream wedding was my FH's cousins at the Pleasantdale Chateau in Jersey-- it was gorgeous and wanted my wedding to be just like it but it def was not in our price range and to far. They filmed cocoon there.. lol So you just have to take a step back and look at the reasons why ur not happy. If you got a good price, you like the food and are happy with most of the place the other things will fall into place.. Hope this helps!!!

Re: so many doubts
There are many other ways to have a wow factor for the ceremony!!!!! Just think about how convenient it would be for u and the guests to have both at the RH, don't make things difficult on yourself!!! If you do wanna look at the other places try and ask for Sunday brunch prices, that's what I did and it cut the price a great deal!!!! I have heard great things about the North Ritz!!!! Whatever you pick FH will be there for you!!!
I had the same problem when choosing a RH. We're getting married at the hall and everywhere I went I felt that the outside for the ceremony was nice but as soon as they brought me to their inside chapel, it just felt wrong. Maybe there is a way for them (might cost you more) to set up your main reception room for the ceremony first - then when you're guests move into the cocktail room, the main ballroom can be switched back?
That's why I booked with The Riviera. The outside is beautiful, but the inside is just as beautiful so rain or no, I'm going to love where I have my ceremony. They have room dividers so if you get married inside, you are on the dance floor in front of the big fireplace & the tables of the ballroom are hidden behind dividers so you still have the element of surprise when walking into the ballroom after cocktail hr.
I'd ask your RH if they can do something like that for you. They may add an extra charge, but you have to be happy with your ceremony - that's the whole point of it all right?
