Anyone have any suggestions on a new computer I should buy?

No, but I hear you on the 'throwing out the window' part. DH and I always talk about how cool it would be if we could toss ours from our fourth floor window (as long as no one was down there, of course!)

I bought a Dell & I love it. I bought the desk saver one I think its the 4500c, with the Flat screen. They usually have free shipping & no tax.

Dell's customer service s*cks. We had such problems with them, hours spent on the phone with India, them subcontracting out a technician, getting their message crossed and it took about 2 weeks to solve the problem all with people with very limited English skills.

nope, it's a laptop.

that was very nicely put. I had a hard time typing that out and keeping it NICE. FH has a Dell laptop, and his mother has a desktop, both purchased last summer. I'm CONSTANTLY troubleshooting, and they have to call India at least once a month. They both said never again --- the last time his mother had a problem, she was on the phone for 4 HOURS!!! The battery on her cordless phone died because she was on it so long

I refrained from the obsenities that are still spewing from my mouth weeks later. No joke, like 4 Dell support people would call me a day with random things for 2 weeks! Finally I flipped on them!

I actually screamed at one representative while at work. He called to check to make sure everything was now working and I said 'You didn't even send someone to fix the g-ddamn thing, you canceled my appointment meanwhile the tech showed up anyway and I wasn't there because you told me it was canceled. What kind of notes do you have? You better get your act together because Dell service is a piece of crap. You have no idea what is going on, you are so intent on following up to make sure it is all done when it's not even NEAR done - do you people even communicate with each other? Stop calling me at work!'

Well, that's the PG version of what I said at least. I was like an animal with them. Seriously, like 4 phone calls a day from them while at work and not one person knew the story at all. And then the 4-hour calls to India

I'm still a bit angry!

My friends boyfriend works for Dell and he admitted they pretty much s*ck!! So what is a good company? So far one vote for MAC.

I don't know why this made me think of this, but has anybody ever seen the video of the guy in his cubacle that starts freaking out and smashing his computer into tiny bits? I'm going to see if I can find it.

I have a compaq (laptop) and Mike has a HP (both same company) I hate to say it but you really can't go with the whole india limited english because AOL, HP, COMPAQ,DELL, Bloomingdales and LOTS of other places have their Customer service in India. Ive had problems with my Laptop bud its gotten fixed. Mike has his HP media something or other and no problems so far.

Macs are cool but they are SO different then regular Computers. And I think you have to buy different programs for them or at least you use to.
