Well I have one better... I know someone that booked their wedding reception before they were even engaged! They also bought their wedding dress! That person just got engaged officially last week and she's going for her first fitting already. BTW, they've only been together for about 5 months.

A friend of mine booked her reception hall and she is not engaged. However, her boyfriend told her he has the ring.

WOW she moves fast!!!!! I guess in her family alot of people send engagement gifts and she wanted to make sure its stuff she wants ???
Did she even set a date or pick a hall yet?

Yeah she wanted to do it for gifts I think! And they are getting married in FL anyway.....

Actually that is exactly what I did upon the advice of my MIL. She said that people will buy engagement gifts and they want to know what you like.
Because we were older and lived on our own there were things that we had several of and other things that we didn't even have one of.
It's not searching for gifts. People don't have to buy an engagement gift and most people want to buy a gift that they know the couple need/like.
