so one of my hotels called. . .

and kind of caught me off guard-i'm at work & wasn't really in wedding mode at the moment. ok, I 'm always in wedding mode, jsut not hotel mode, i guess. She was returning my call from yesterday.

So, I'm afraid I didn't asked enough questons.
She told me the rate
that a minimum of 10 have to reserve to get the group rate
I don't need to leave a credit card
They'll hold the block untill 1 month before the wedding.

Anything I missed?I didn't agree to anything yet , b/c another is supposed to call me back.

Do they provide shuttle service to the reception hall and/or airport?
Is there an extra charge to deliver OOT gifts (if you plan to do so)?
Do you provide a discount to the bride and groom if they decide to spend the wedding night there?

Hope this helps....

Thanks,

I forgot about the gift bags. I think I might do that.

I don't think they have shuttle service, but I guess it couldn't hurt to ask.

I don't want to stay at the same hotel as my guests (I want to splurge a little) so I didn't ask about that.

A *minimum* of 10 HAVE to reserve? What if only 3 want to? That doesn't sound right to me.

What happens if only nine rooms are booked? They will be charged more than the group rate they were quoted?

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. She said if it was close to 10, they could probably still do the group rate, but if its its 3, then they would get the regular rate.

I can understand that, but I was a little hesitant about booking for that reason.I'm going to survey my friends now to see if I'd get aleast 10 couples.

I would look for another hotel. None of mine have minimums like that - they'll just release the rooms a month before.

yeah,doesn't sound right.
All the hotels we blocked at said that even if only ONE room is booked, they still get the group rate.
(which hotel is this?)

It was the Holiday Inn Plainview.

I'm going to see what the Howard Johnson's says.

So the other hotel called- the Howard Johnsons'
they will give everyone the group rate if they book by the 1 month deadline.

Turns out the rates are about the same, but I think I am going to go with this one, b/c of the minimum at the other hotel.
I didn't go see it, but since I've ruled out everything else because its booked, too far, too expensive or has stupid rules, I think this is my only option.
