So pissed off when I left town hall yesterday! Left the BEST PART OUT...

I don't know where my birth certificate is so I went yesterday to the town hall and asked for it....filled out the paper work and was ready to pay the fee and waited 20 minand they tell me 'there's a problem'...so I say 'well whats the problem' and this person tells me that when the birth certificate was filled out my first name was put where my middle name should be or something stupid...NOW I know this is not true and so does my mother and now I have to get my bapismal certificate to prove who I am

NOW isn't this THEIR MISTAKE

Well it didn't because they are WRONG!My mother has had to get a copy her and there from them and this has never been an issue

hempstead town hall doesnt require a birth cert

HS person, eeeehhhh - did he go to college??? Sorry, I know that sounds mean, and I mean no harm to anyone with that comment! I know how frustrating this is! I didn't have a certified sealed birth certificate when I applied for my passport in High School and we had to run around to hospitals, town halls, etc to get the right documentation before I could apply for the passport!!!!! Nothing can be simple when it comes to government offices! I should know, I work in one!

that stinks!! I don't know where you live..but we went to Kew Gardens, Queens to get our licence..I swear..all you need is a drivers license..unbeleivable..ok it's not the friendliest place..not the warmest of people..but if you have trouble..you can always go there..

Kathleen,

I got my marriage license in Queens. They didn't require a birth certificate at all! I just showed my driver's license and so did John. You should get it in Queens... it'll be much easier!
